Overall, our stay was all right. The service at the bar/ cafe was wonderful. Both the severs were pleasant and professional. The rooms were comfortable - with decent beds and showers with hot water. The front desk associates were a problem. There was only one individual who helped us both with the check-in and check- out process who was a true professional. All of the other associates, especially a Caucasian older lady who was working January 1- on an early morning shift, were absolutely rude and unprofessional. All we did was ask her, very politely about parking, and she had the nerve to call security. Parking is something we pay for, and the " lady," whose name I unfortunately could not write down, made us feel like she was paying for our parking and almost yelled at us. I appreciate people who work over the holidays. I know it's difficult to work during these times when they can be at home with their families and relax. However, her attitude and demeanor were uncalled for and very scary. I will not come to this place. I just hope people who come to stay in the future will have better experiences. I am disappointed with the lack of professionalism exhibited by the front desk.
Run down, old hotel in need of TLC. This is the typical hotel that never receives any maintenance: doors pain chipped off, mold around the bathtub, switches covered in dust, old carpets and curtains and so on. On the good note: rooms are big. There is a shuttle service from and to the airport every 30 minutes. The ride to the airport takes approximately 15 minutes. There is also a pool. A restaurant and a Starbucks in the lobby. The rooms facing the lobby tend to be noisy. I got my room with Hilton points and no complaints with that. If you can afford, get yourself a better place. If you are on a budget, this hotel will just be fine for an overnight stay.
Stayed at the Hilton Honors for a day. I really liked the property. It is well maintained and contemporary in terms of the facility and services. However, i didn't quite like the staff. Some of them were quite rude honestly. Unwilling to walk the extra mile. Kindness to guests doesn't cost much. One of the guys at the front desk was quite helpful during check in.
The view from my room was a cargo yard filled with freight trains and shipping containers. I asked for a different room to no avail. The traditional breakfast cost $30.00. The same breakfast or better is included at the Hampton. Parking is a nightmare prison camp. They do not warn you ahead of time about the cost of parking. You have to get a ticket to enter the property to check in. If you need to go out for dinner, you can't leave. It took three attempt just to get out for dinner. After the first attempt failed, I notified the front desk. And still took another two attempt to get out of the hotel parking lot. I felt so trapped. There is no optional parking. If you happen to not like your room and decide to leave, it will cost you an extra $31.00. I don't like those types of accommodation. Overall, Double Tree is not a bad hotel. But this location on Frontage st in Newark needs to step up and do better.
I personally didn't stay at the double tree hotel, but i did assist my best friend with decorating one of the banquet hall rooms for an appreciation dinner. The banquet room was very spacious, and the customer service was exceptional. I would like to recognize the director of banquets JUDE KELLY for his awesome customer service. He exceeded my expectations as he made accommodations for us to have our room fixed the way it was supposed to be when booking. Because of this, i am looking forward to hosting my own event there one day. Thank you!
Rooms: The mini island in your room makes an ambient noise that helps with sleeping. The outlets are loose, but the water is FRESH. Service: Service is amazing. The staff team make you feel at home and even give you a cookie when you first check in. Housekeeping does a good job and the maids are kind as well. Location: Good, stores and places to eat aren't too far away. Overall: Other than the loose outlets and overpriced snacks, I had a great time. The pool and rooms are neat, organized, and easily accessible while keeping safety and privacy in mind. They have all the essentials you need in the bathroom with great crowding control. There's an internet cafe and lounge area where you can go to relax or work. Service is amazing and was definitely one of my favorite parts during my stay. Gotta love the location, especially if you work at the airport across from the hotel. Great experience, would recommend.
Really close to the airport about 5-8 min. Free shuttle to and from hotel. Our rooms was impeccably clean although a bit cold for us oldies here , but we just turned off the AC and voila! Staff member Raul was super helpful and the ladies taking care of the housekeeping too, and except for a young girl with long braids at the front who looked a bit moody when I spoke to her, everyone else was super nice and professional, especially Tim and the ladies with glasses. We paid only 20$ extra for a small fridge to keep our drinks cold during our 4 day stay besides that everything else was included in the original reservation. We used the microwave in the bistro and the guys there were so nice also. Bed was so comfy, we slept like babies. We’ll definitely come back! I can not for the life of me understand the complaints. It’s not the hotels fault how the streets and highways are built in NJ. Too many loops to get anywhere, hence the longer ride times. Also ALL hotels change a deposit for incidentals that if you are a decent guest is refunded. Here is a pic of my hubby in our wonderful room. Rooms: Nice and super comfy bed Safety: We walked around a lot and felt really safe even in the early hrs of the day
I was quite satisfied with the hotel itself. I not quite sure the balcony doors are bolted shut though. The shuttle to the airport was a disaster. I was first in line to get on the the bus but had large bags and everyone pushed passed me and was the last to get on. Once on the bus, it got a flat tire in the parking lot and they rransfered everyone to a van and I was not able to board this van. I waited for over an hour and ended up calling an uber so as to not miss my flight . An update since my return flight landed. I waited at the p4 air train station for over an hour in the rain waiting for the shuttle back to my car. This was the worst park and fly experience I have ever had at Newark. I do this every 8 weeks. Avoid this place at all costs
By far the worst experience I've had at a Hilton Hotel. Started bad right at check in, I booked the room almost 2 months in advance, for December 30th and December 31st, 2023, and requested a 1st floor room or if they don't have any, something close to an elevator. When I checked in the lady at the front desk said they don't have any rooms available on 1st floor, which was understandable....hotel fully booked, and after all who cares about my request, right? Didn't make a big deal of it, but what was a big deal is that she checked us in on 6th floor at the very far end of the hallway not even close to the elevator. I've tried to stay calm and not ruin my mood, because after all I came to NY to have a good time. When we got to our room we noticed there is no fridge in the room, my husband called the desk and the same lady that checked us in told him that if we want one delivered to our room is an extra $25 charge.....really????? even Motel 6 has a fridge. Later on, we also noticed that the outlets by the bed don't work, all the other ones in the room worked, except the ones by the bed. We called the front desk and they sent the maintenance guy, he moved the night stands, the bed, trying to fix it, wasn't able to fix it though. We called the front desk to let them know, so they can make a note and can fix it for the future guests, after we are checking out, didn't ask for a discount or to move us to a different room....they were fully booked and that late at night I don't think would of been possible anyways. Took a deep breath and had to let it go..... What I can't let go is their attitude when we checked out, we were running a little bit late so I called the front desk to let them know that instead of 11AM we are leaving at 11:30AM. Instantly on the other end of the line, the same exact lady that checked us in yelled: ma'am you need to leave NOW, we don't do late check outs. So rude and unprofessionally. Also, forgot to mention that the ice machine and the vending machine on 6th floor didn't work either... I would never recommend this place to anyone, not even to my worst enemy...
due to the cancellation of our flight, the airport provided us with this hotel so that we could relax, but upon check-in we were not even provided with water in the room, which, in principle, is provided in every hotel, at least two bottles of water. When I went to the reception to ask for water, they told me that I could buy it from them in the restaurant, or from a vendig machine. When I asked why you do not provide water for your guests, I was told that "this is not part of our concept." This is at least a service that even motels provide. And considering how they responded to my request for water, it was not at all polite on the part of the service staff.
