Downtown Pets

Went here today to look for aquarium stuff with my boyfriend, we walked in and the lady was rude first of all, second they are horrible to their fish and aquatic animals , we seen a DEAD arms length foot and a half I'd say COMMON PLECO in a 10 gallon maybe less tank , god knows how long that poor thing suffered before it died but it looked like it's been sitting in that tank for at least a week , it's turning gray and all sunken in , if it was still alive I would have boughten it just to take it to Phil's for them to actually house the pleco correctly, that pleco should have been in a 100 gallon at least , very horrible to see and never going back there ago again , shameful.

Animals treated poorly, rude owner, will never go back in.

There absolutely rude here!! Bought a heating paid for my leopard gecko spent 40$ on it to get home for it to not even work an for the older lady at the store gave me half the money back that I spent on it!! She was very rude when she gave me the money back I will not be going here again as for the housing for there reptiles an fish is horrible as well definitely will not be buying anything from them again!!

what a great store. You are welcomed by the awe of the products available for your animal/pet needs. Most days you are greeted by Karen and some days by her Pet Bear, all are friendly.. If you are not able to find the product you are looking for Karen is behind the counter searching to see if she can locate it,or where you can also locate it. I was treated with great respect ,but my pets were her first concern. We shop there frequently for our household pets,Downtown Pets is budget friendly,as well as question friendly. A great place to introduce your family to a variety of pet ideas,and lessons on their up keep. The condition of these pets are definitely not humane, very disappointed in the smell and cleanliness of the store. The staff was nice but couldn’t get over those poor animals.

Karen is always there to answer any questions you have. Good selection of both exotics and various pet supplies. If she doesnt have it she will order it in for you. Highly recommended for your exotic or fur baby shopping needs.

A great and friendly place. Karen is always fun to chat with and always helpful. We have been there dozens of times and it is always nice. A good basic stock, but, what you need she will order for you. We highly recommend a visit or two.

Got a bird to be wife since my male bird had depression. No more depression and had two babies. 10/10 *Update* the mother bird and father bird had a falling out. She attacked him and took out his feathers. The children sided with the mom and now I have a very sad divorced bird family. Had to buy a separate cage for the male. Whenever the female sees the male she screams at him. The children wont even look at him. Its like I have a reality t.v show in my living room. Still would highly recommend this shop. Service is great and they always have the supplies I need.

I normally go to Trent but I wanted to get my son two fish. Walked in never got greeted. Then when I wanted only two fish they were going to charge me to use debt. Its 2021 and basically a cashless society. I told them no way and walked out. I will never return to any business that charges for debt.

I have shopped at Downtown Pets for the entire time the store has been open, i have bought more stuff at her store then any other pet store in Ontario! i have had the owner Karen specially order me product and fish that she dose not stock in her store she is great for that and tries to if she able to and once she orders it once she will continue to order that product and carry it, she has amazing animals and critters and lots of supplies, also Karen is not like any other pet stores that i have dealt with, she will ask you about what fish you have in your tank before selling you the fish that you want because it looks cool, so there are no problems of one fish or critter killing off all the rest you have in your tank, most pet store just wanna sell the "product " and make the sale, Karen is in NO WAY LIKE THIS, she care for you and your critters, and if your fish for some reason does die in the first several days and you call her she has been good on making things right, karen is the sole owner of the store and the only employe of that store, every time i go into her store shes always working her butt off cleaning cages or feeding critters, writing orders and always helping people with questions, when you walk into you are always asked if there's anything i can help you with no matter how busy she may be cleaning. My experience with Downtown Pets has been excellent
