Doyle's Sports Bar

Great neighborhood bar with different crowds at different times of the day. A great afternoon crowd with a mix of older folks and a group of younger people. I undertstand there is a robust crowd later in the evening but I am usually at home in bed before that starts.

Great neighborhood type of place. You see regulars and could easily become one. The drinks are strong and they have plenty of specials on them so they are cheap. They have pool tables, darts, and a juke box. They also show sporting events. They don’t serve food but you could always have some sent using Uber eats.

Best bar ever on Thursday nights!!! Love the atmosphere here, great music great people. Luke is the best bartender ever, love the security so down to earth... The are a couple pool tables, ping pong, and darts. Love it!

Terrible experience! Not even worthy of one star. I went to Doyle’s last night for the first time and I will never be back. The bartender was rude and clearly didn’t want to do her job. She took her sweet time even acknowledging my friend and I standing at the bar. Clearly she saw us because she stared at us for about 5 minutes and still decided to not come and greet us or ask what we would like to drink. The bar was empty, maybe about five people total were in the entire place and no one else was ordering drinks. She made it a point to do anything she could, including talking on her cell phone before taking the drink order. The bartender looked as if she was high, couldn’t remember two simple drink orders, and had an attitude when I repeated them back to her. She even stopped making our drinks at one point to help someone else who appeared to be a regular. Once we finally got the drinks that came to $16 she was handed a $20 and refused to give change. She was basically demanding a tip for horrible service. Who does that?!?!? When we informed her we wanted change, she got mad and asked for the drinks back. We gladly returned them, got the $20 back and left. It didn’t hurt us any to return the drinks but your bartender is killing your business. In addition to the bartender completely sucking and looking high, a woman came from a room towards the back looking like she was shooting up. God only knows what she was on. Needless to say this place is below a dive bar...More like a drug bar.

Update to my Review - DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE - EVER! I visited this place about two months ago. At that time I want that impressed. I walked up to the bar for a refill, waiting on the bartender to approach. Another guy that he knew approached and they begin speaking. He did cashed him out and others before approaching me for a refill. Other than three bartender service it was an okay spot, that time. Tried this place again on 06/22/2019 - I walked in with my friend a person of a different race we both stood at the bar for about 10 minutes with no one else standing at the bar, while the bartender appeared to be Finding things to do to avoid getting us. Once she was finished doing a lot of nothing, she grabbed her phone while facing the pool tables, checked her phone then made a call. Gets on the phone and still never looked our way. I assumed she was calling the manager or owner due to an issue with the bar. Why else would a bartender get on the phone with waiting customers at 11:30pm..? After being on the phone about two minutes, facing the seating area, she then begins to give us a death stare, after about 30 seconds of that and feeling extremely uncomfortable, she puts the phone down asks what we're drinking and walks away. She started making the drinks, then stopped to cash another customer out that randomly walked up to the bar. We ordered two crown on the rocks, she started they were $16 which I believe isn't correct but didn't hesitate to pay. Handed her a $20 and she asked if I wanted change back. Responded with, yes, please. She then appeared to be really upset by that as she didn't even begin walking away. I asked, "what do I have to do to get a pool table?" She stated, L"EAVE A REALLY GOOD TIP!" I asked if she was serious, and she responded with an astounding, "Yes!". At the point I asked for the $20 back so that we could leave. She refused! After a few seconds passed, she said, know what, how about you take this little money back, and leave. So that's exactly what we did! I'm not sure that us being an interracial couple made any difference to her, but not sure that it didn't either, considering she had no problem assisting other couples!

Thank goodness for this bar. Its for locals looking for a fun time. Drinks are cheap and the people working here are absolutley awesome. 1 Ping Pong table, 1 mini Bumper Pool table, 5 regular pool tables, 5 dart boards, 1 foosball table, 1 pinball machine......I love this place.

I love Doyle's. Sure it's not going to win any awards for decor, nor beer selection, nor "hipness", but it is a fantastic neighborhood bar. Run by locals for locals, this is the kind of place where the bartender will learn your name, remember what you like to drink, and get out a set of pool balls for you when you walk in. The tables are just okay, but when they're free to use a rarity in Durham it's hard to complain. It may be something of a dive, but after a visit or two you'll proudly refer to it as "your dive" and I guarantee you'll be back many times. It's one of my favorite hideouts in Durham.

Friendly, feels like home. They make an effort to maintain the atmosphere and keep the peace. Plus the place and people are just overall awesome. I've never felt uncomfortable whether it was a night out with friends or just by myself

Walked in, on a Friday about 8:30pm only 5 people on the bar. Everyone had drinks, the bartender conversed about light fixtures for about 10 minutes then oversaw me, start a conversation with another gentlemen to my other side. Finally after another 10 minutes asked me what was I having? Hmmm hopefully she was just tired but I am not coming back here.

Great mixed atmosphere! Great sports bar with afforable different drink special everyday! Open 4pm-2am! This is a nice after hour spot!
