While all dentists have at least some basic training in orthodontics, only a fully trained specialist in orthodontics has the additional two to three years of post-doctoral training in an orthodontic program accredited by the American Dental Association. So, when searching for a dentist to provide you or a family member with orthodontic care, insist that it is a specialist in orthodontics.
One of the great advantages of our group practice is that our specialist in orthodontics works closely with our pediatric dentists to provide for a collaborative approach when treatment is needed. This helps to ensure that our patients receive the most balanced and up to date care possible.
Dr. Hunter grew up in New Jersey and attended Rutgers College. Following this, she entered dental school at UMDNJ - New Jersey Dental School. From there, she went on to receive her specialty training in orthodontics from the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine.
She moved to N.H. in 1993 to partner with Dr. Wendell to create the area's first group practice that encompassed pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. The advantages were clear even back then in terms of having one set of providers who could manage all of a child's dental and orthodontic needs.
Today, the benefits are even more apparent in that we now have four specialists in children's dental care and orthodontics under one roof, working collaboratively together.
