General Dentistry
Our office provides a full range of dental treatments, including preventive,
restorative, and cosmetic dentistry.
Dr. Shires attended the University of Richmond as an undergraduate, and then
studied at the Medical College of Virginia where he received his D.D.S. (Doctor of
Dental Surgery). He received a certificate in Advanced Education in General
Dentistry at the University of Maryland, where he has had both full and part-time
academic appointments, and is currently a member of the Dean's Faculty. He is an
alumnus of Dawson Academy and the Pankey Institute for Higher Education.
In addition to his practice, Dr. Shires has served on many committees and held
numerous positions in the American Dental Association (ADA) and Academy of
General Dentistry (AGD) at state and local levels. He is past president of the
Baltimore County Dental Association. He has lectured, authored, and co-authored
a number of publications and abstracts. The AGD has presented him with the
Fellowship Award. He was chosen one of “Baltimore's Best” in Baltimore Magazine.
Dr. Shires is pleased to be part of the Crown Council, a highly visible group of
dentists w/ a determined mission: to create a dental team that contributes to the
health, wellness, and prevention of disease in our communities.
Dr. Schmidt attended Miami University, and then studied at Ohio State University,
where he received his D.D.S. degree. He then attended a one-year Advanced
General Dentistry program at the University of Maryland, where he continues to
teach clinical dentistry one day a week. He began practicing general dentistry in
1989 in Towson.
In addition to his practice, Dr. Schmidt is active in the American Dental Association
(ADA) and the Baltimore County Dental Association. He is also a member of the
Academy of General Dentistry, where he earned the Fellowship Award, which is
given to doctors dedicated to the pursuit of advanced education.
