Melanie is a Naturopathic Doctor at the Kiani Naturopathic Clinic located in the Core Link Wellness Centre in Burlington, Ontario. She has a passion for healthy living, family care and preventative medicine, and enjoys treating patients of all ages and stages of life.
She completed an Honours Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Medical Sciences and Biology at the University of Western Ontario. She continued her pursuit of medicine in Toronto, completing the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM).
The ND program at CCNM is an intensive four-year, post-graduate program that includes more than 3,000 hours of classroom training and involves more than 1,200 hours of clinical experience at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic (RSNC). During her clinic internship at the RSNC, Melanie conducted hundreds of patient assessments, treatments and worked closely with many Naturopathic Doctors. She quickly developed her own unique style of patient care, centered on helping patients reach their health goals by empowering them with information and supporting them with naturopathic treatments.
Her assessment involves performing physical exams, evaluating patients medical and family histories for risk factors of disease, collaborating with other healthcare providers, interpreting and educating patients on their laboratory results, providing advanced laboratory services in-house (including food allergy testing, hormone assessment, environmental toxin panels, and more), diagnosing disease (in both Eastern and Western medicine philosophies), monitoring symptom progression and improvement with objective measures and last by not least, listening to her patients experience.
Her treatment plans involve diet improvements, lifestyle modifications, nutrition supplementation and injections, botanical and homeopathic medicine, advice for at-home treatments and hydrotherapy, acupuncture sessions, guided meditation, emotional counseling and strategies for preventing disease.
Melanie has a great passion for helping others improve their health, and thereby their quality of life, through naturopathic medicine and achieving balance. She listens to her patients and takes the time to understand their health concerns and meet them where they are.
She dedicates herself to both her patients and her own continuing education and looks forward to having a positive impact on the health of the Burlington and surrounding community.
