Dreambuilders Foundation partners with star athletes to make kids' dreams come true!
Dreambuilders partners with the following athletes to conduct charitable programs:
Sean Lee (Dallas Cowboys)
Earl Bennett (Chicago Bears)
Ozzie Smith (St. Louis Cardinals)
Tashard Choice (Buffalo Bills)
Terence Newman (Cincinnati Bengals)
Michael Griffin (Tennessee Titans)
Terrence Cody (Baltimore Ravens)
Remi Ayodele (New Orleans Saints)
Current Programs include:
• The Birthday Club - Dream Builders works with youth organizations and case workers to distribute birthday gift cards to foster who may not otherwise receive a gift on their birthday. For these children who have been uprooted from their families and homes, this gesture reminds them that someone cares, and that they have not been forgotten on their special day. The Birthday Club is been launched in Dallas, where Dream Builders is working with Friends of Wednesday’s Child to provide birthday gifts to 1,000 foster children this year.
• Legends for Literacy - Kids across the United States are spending less time reading. So Dream Builders is teaming with after school organizations in select cities to give them the tools to make reading more fun and interactive for the kids they serve. This is done by purchasing e-readers (like Kindles) and unique software that is proven to expand a child’s vocabulary and improve their reading skills. Dream Builders is launching this program in Chicago and Fort Worth this Spring.
• Shop With A Jock - Each year, kids go back to school without a chance to get new clothes, and they go through the Holidays without a chance to get gifts for their family or even themselves. So Dream Builders has partnered with Dick’s Sporting Goods in cities throughout the country to give groups of disadvantaged kids a chance to go shopping with a pro athlete and get items that give them confidence and pride in themselves. The program officially got under way over the 2011 Holiday Season in Atlanta (with the Falcons rookie class), Buffalo (with Bills RB Tashard Choice), Dallas (with Cowboys DB Terence Newman), Houston (with Texans DL Mario Williams), Kansas City (with Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson) and Nashville (with Predators stars Anders Lindback and Craig Smith).
