Drift Inn

Description

Tucked away in the hamlet of East Islip, the Drift Inn provides a lively atmosphere, great food, cold beers, and your favorite cocktails. Long Island natives Shauna and Deb Finlay, along with James Abbate and Ireland transplant (but now a true Long Islander) Gerry Finlay have built a place where locals and non locals alike can come raise a glass or two. Chef James Abbate grew up in East Islip and has combined his many years of culinary experience with his passion for the ocean to answer the need for a neighborhood bar on the South Shore.

From the exposed brick to the reclaimed pine bar, as well as the carefully curated artwork that hangs on the walls, Shauna overlooked nothing in providing the casual yet unique atmosphere that is found at the Drift Inn. For our beer enthusiasts, be on the lookout for the local breweries we partner with. Our aim is to bring great food and drinks to good people. Come join us in drifting the night away.

Drift Inn is always a great time!! Tonight the bar music seems to be intermittent, but they've got two guys playing acoustic only and they are great! 9/9/23 hope to see them here again!!Food: 4/5
My friends and I have come here a bunch of times for their garlic parm wings. Usually they're incredible, but this time they put this really heavy, creamy sauce on it they kinda ruined them. I'm not sure if they changed the recipe or tried something different, but please go back to your old recipe. Its way better. If not for that, I'd rate 5 stars. Also the live music was waaaaay too loud for a place this small. The speaker kept screeching. It also takes up way too much room in an already small bar. When my friends and i sat down one of my friends and I asked for a guiness. My other friend asked for a water and the bartender said "just a water? Really? Cmon man". Iwhat if my friend was a recovering alcoholic? Guilting anyone into drinking is messed up. And the bartender dissappeared for a while while we waited for our check.
Great atmosphere, even better food! Get the Cuban.Parking spacePlenty of parkingParking optionsFree parking lot
The food was excellent good bartending and a nice crowd
Got the burger and they burned the Martin's potato roll. Not good. Who would ruin a Martin's potato roll?? Burnt wife's shrimp quesedilla. What's up with the grill? Fries were good. Wings were plain wings with Red Hot sauce on them. Average. Beer selection was mediocre although they had a couple non-ordinary craft cans. Seemed like just older locals in there but it was a weekday at 4:30. Probably wouldn't go back.
Great bar. Staff Is very friendly
Only decent bar on Montauk Highway in that part of Suffolk. Once you’re east of Bay Shore it’s honestly slim pickings. The Drift is nice in it’s own right however because it has a nice local atmosphere with casual ambience while maintaining decent refinement. I’ve never had their food but it looks really good and I’ve only ever heard good things. The bartenders are really nice and definitely make you feel very welcome.
The drift is a great bar with delicious food. The bartenders are always happy and the service with drinks and food are quick. My kids love going there for the burgers and I love the atmosphere. In the daytime and evenings for lunch, dinner and drinks and then late night leave the kiddies at home and enjoy some drinks, bar eats and a lot of laughs with some fun bands that play on the weekends.
First time there, and had a great time ! The bartender Tim was great
I stopped in yesterday for the first time as I was passing by after Christmas shopping. To my surprise, as a car guy myself, I connected with a group of car guys who frequent the place. They spoke well about the food and conviviality of the patrons who drift in on a regular basis. Very friendly staff too, so I will certainly go out of my way to return. Sal
