I have been going to dSpa for several years now, and experience has been great. Hailey does an amazing job, is understanding of my one dog’s anxiety and pups always end up looking great
Too long/didn't read: I payed $70 for a specific cut. The groomer decided to take creative liberty and give Wrigley the cut *he* thought would look best. This angred me because he ignored what I asked and paid for. He said he could fix it in "seconds" which ended up being 20 minutes. Because of this, my schedule for the day got messed up and my dog was returned with an uneven cut see pix. In the future, I would suggest groomers execute the cut customers request for their pets. Full review: I came here 3 months ago to get my dog groomed. He looked great! The way his ears were cut was so cute as they grew out. Unfortunately, my experience with the groomer today has deterred me from coming back to DSPA. When I dropped my dog off, I asked for a puppy cut. The groomer saw the picture I posted from my previous review so he knew what I wanted. I was told they would call me when he was ready so I started on my items for the day. I came back to pick him up and the groomer walks him out and says "I gave him a Westie cut". I asked him to fix it and he told me it would be "seconds" and to just wait there. So I did. As he's fixing Wrigley's cut, 2 dogs start fighting behind him. This groomer and another try to break it up. Meanwhile, these "seconds" have turned into 20 minutes. Wrigley is eventually "done". Chunks of his hair from his chest are missing see pix. The blatant disregard for what a customer is asking and my time is exaserbating. Considering the reviews I've seen, this is not a "one-off" issue. If I'm paying $70 for a haircut, I would assume I would get the cut I requested, especially if the groomer has seen a picture. I will not be returning.
I USED TO love this place for my dog's groom back when his groomer PJ worked here but once he was gone every single time my dog came back he was all messed up. His hair was uneven or his lashes would only be done on one side not the other, half his tail was shaved and a half was left!? It was a $110 +tip groom, I would always have to come back for them to fix his hair, EVEN THOUGH MY DOG SHOULD BE GROOMED CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME! last time I came here a groomer named Saul gave me an attitude for coming back EVEN THOUGH IT WAS HIS FAULT for not cutting it right the first time. I paid for a full-service groom, not for a choppy haircut.
I really didn’t mind the quality of the work I felt like my dog looked great. We tried this place twice. My boyfriend had dropped our dog off and picked him up prior and so this was my first experience. Both times we tried this place they had tried to charge us more than what was quoted. Finally, what really was the worst part-was the girl handed my dog back to me after she put his leash on and she had attached the leash to where his tags were not where the leash was supposed to be attached so my dog actually broke away as I was walking to my car and I chased my dog down Roscoe Street. Thank goodness someone helped me catch him. But this is a safety issue and I am extremely disappointed at the lack of thought-my dog could have died. We do not recommend.
I had been going to DSpa since 2020 and had a great experience for the 2 years great hair cuts and loved the cute bandana they add! I had been going until my most recent experience in May 2022. Needless to say, I am looking for a new groomers. I have a 13 pound shih tzu and had an appt at 1pm. He usually is done within 2.5-3 hours but my dog wasn't done until 6pm. At the time the business had a broken AC system, which I understand caused a delay for grooming, but there was no follow up to myself about the delayed time frame until I had to continuously call and see what was going on. When I arrived to pick up my dog, he was the last dog there, which I thought was confusing considering we had an early appointment. The owner also blamed his staff for being incompetent and not showing up for work which was a red flag for me to see a business owner not taking accountability and apologizing. I still had to pay the full price, and on top of that was only informed at the moment of payment that the system was down and I had to pay using Venmo that interfered with my budgeting and what I anticipated using a different payment method for. In total I paid around $90. I also saw that they did not clip my dog's nails so I ended up clipping them myself.
I had an appointment scheduled for 10am for my dog to get bathed/dried and have her nails clipped. I was told the appointment would be 2-2.5 hours in length. I called at the 2 hour mark to check the status and she still had not been seen. I called again 2 hours later now 4 hours from when the appointment was scheduled, I was told that she was finishing with the bathing and that she would have her mini groom next. 30 minutes later, I get a call saying that she is not cooperating with the person trying to clip her nails. At this point, it had been 4.5 hours so my dog was clearly over it. I picked her up and asked about the scheduling and got nothing but attitude from Chad owner. I was also charged $85 for a bath/blowdry, which is ridiculous. I recently moved and had no issues with my dog’s previous groomer in Old Town. They were much nicer and more reasonable in price. They also never had any cooperation issues with my dog. Needless to say, I do not recommend D Spa.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! Not only is the quality of care horrible dogs are forced to wait for hours because management does not know how to use a schedule, the owner is shady, rude, and condescending. He charges hidden fees that aren't listed on the website and is rude when you ask about it despite the complete lack of upfront transparency. There are plenty of better places to take your dog and your dog will thank you for avoiding this place that clearly does not care about him/her at all!
Amazing service, amazing staff. I can't recommend them enough! It was immediately apparent that I could absolutely trust them with my dog, who is my life, and that they genuinely cared about both me and my dog having an absolutely amazing experience. I believe that anyone who trusts them with their pet will leave feeling as if their pet has been washed with more than just shampoo and conditioner; they will leave feeling awash with joy and with love! I never write negative reviews, but it also takes a lot for me to write a positive, glowing review, especially for a place where you are trusting them with your most precious companions. Rest assured, i wouldn't recommend them if I felt even the slightest bit of doubt. I wouldn't recommend them unless I was sure that you and your pet would have just as positive of an experience as I did. Which is why i am going to write a long review: my dog is the most important thing in my life, as I'm sure it is with many who will read this, and I want to make sure everyone understands just how much a difference it made to take my dog to a place where the love for pets is so evident, and where it is such a pleasure to bring your pet, especially in comparison to the in-&onstantly short-staffed and over-booked, "this is just a job" atmosphere of previous groomers I have visited which I'm sure you have visited too. They were able to squeeze me in last minute after PetSmart "lost" my reservation and my vaccination record. So naturally, I am going to compare my experiences between the two. I have use PetSmart for grooming several times since I moved to the city, and every time they would have to call me to pick perry up early because they would book a 3 hour appt, but apparently after 45 min of grooming they just put him in a crate surrounded by other dogs and he would cry for me. This last time, they had 6 dogs in tables, all being groomed in the same area, barking at each other, and another 6 or more dogs in small crates behind them. I am so glad that they lost my reservation. Of course at the time, I had been dropped off by an Uber, and I had no idea what to do. I frantically called other groomers. As soon as DSPA picked up, it was like a breathe of fresh air. From start to finish, the atmosphere was night and day. All the dogs and all the staff were relaxed and happy! There was a genuine feeling of joy that permeated everything, from the minute I called all the way through. When they were done grooming perry , they called and told me too take my time, that he was being so good and that they were enjoying playing with him. They went above and beyond to fit me in to a last minute appointment, and they charged almost half of what PetSmart charged, which makes it even more shocking that the quality of the grooming is so much more noticeable. A week later , perry is still soft and smelling good, he isn't shedding or itching. Whereas at PetSmart, he would frequently shed the next day! He is a white, short haired dog so his hair is really noticable, and I thought that it was just the best I was going to get. DSPA proved me very wrong!
I love DSPA, my dogs always seem relaxed because they get to have some playtime before & after. It's like a mini socialGreat haircuts. Very friendly too. .
