When we took the report to my wife's doctor, she was astounded. She said that sleep study labs are supposed to provide you with follow up advice and recommendations. That had indeed been our experience when we did our first sleep studies at another lab ten years ago. Duke-Raleigh does not do any follow up we checked but simply send a report to your primary doctor who is usually not a sleep specialist. I would not use this lab again.
I also did not have a great experience with Dr. Pugh. Long story short, he explicitly said that the at home sleep tests are not completely accurate, said that caffeine is a good alternative for wakefulness, stated they only test for narcolepsy or any other serious disorders if they're the worst cases.. Spent $500 after insurance to be told I need to fix myself and was given essentially a shrug and a good luck.. During the initial meeting to go over my "results" I had to actually ask him to go over what the results were and what they meant.. I had to control the meeting because he just didn't seem to have much of any idea what was going on.. Would def NOT recommend coming here for help. Also:: His reviews at Duke Pulmonary his primary are no better!
I hate giving bad reviews, but Dr. Pugh is worth it. I filed a complaint with his office and Duke Health last year about poor service and unrealistic expectation last year, and never heard anything back. Today I got a debt collection letter for amount owed. No notice, warning, anything.
Kudos to my tech "Joe" who was professional, personable, and helpful throughout the procedure I was put at ease upon arrival and kept well-informed through every step.
The stff was so nice and caring. If you needed anything it didn't take them long to get to you.
