Dr. Pate loves education and teaching! Over the last 3 years Dr. Pate has been expanding his horizons into the realm of sharing the vast experiences he has gained over his 30 years of private practice in dentistry. He has always had a passion for everything he does and now he gets to share that passion with young doctors that are newly graduated dentists working on their skills in the University of Florida Resident program in Advanced Dentistry. Yes, Dr. Pate accepted a faculty appointment with the University of Florida School of Dentistry and teaches at the University of Florida’s Seminole clinic 2 days a month, teaching the 12 residents about all aspects of diagnostic, surgical and restorative dentistry. His particular forte’ is digital diagnosis, planning and placement of dental implants using guided surgery, a process by which the implant placement is guided to place using 3D imaging that will more accurately put the implant in the proper position for safety, function and esthetics. The residents are interested, intelligent and talented, so Dr. Pate has to stay on top of his game so that he maintains his relevance. Dr. Pate also teaches this concept of guided surgery as the Clinical Director of Implant Educators, a 7 month continuum in Implant Dentistry, where 70 dentists from all over the country and other countries as well travel to Seminole 7 weekends over the course of a year to participate in live surgeries and lectures. Dr. Pate loves sharing and teaching. He has a been an organizer of local study clubs for several years but now is really enjoying and thankful for his positions in formal education.
