Eagle Pass Public Library

Description

According with the Eagle Pass News Guide published on February 27, 1997, at 1927 a group of women, who were studying art, music, literature, decided Eagle Pass should have a public library. On April 15, 1939, with the help of WPA labor, Maverick County erected a small building on Quarry St., housing 7,000 books. From 1939 to 1965 the Library was an Associated Library, supported by City and County grants plus regular dues paid by the Association members. The City of Eagle Pass passed Ordinance 65-6 dated March 3, 1965 officially making the library a department of the City, to obtain the old Post Office building from the Federal Government, in addition, was stipulated the building would have to be properly used as a public library for at least 20 years requiring yearly reports to verify the use. If the library had not been maintained according to these requirements, it would have reverted to the U.S. Government.

We loved featuring the library inside the “PASS” letters in our Greetings from Eagle Pass mural. Amazing community and we really enjoyed working with the city and everyone involved. Thank you!
Peggy was very helpful. Awesome personal. Polite. Courteous. Excellent atmosphere.
It's a good looking library. An OK Selection of books. The reason for two stars is the amount of noise inside. You have city workers walking through on their cell phones and talkies..You have librarians conversing about their plans for the weekend at a high level of volume. It's my first time here and I wanted to come for some peace and quiet but this was not the case. Will still be back because it's the only library in EP but I just wish the noise level would come down.
About the worst experience ever!! Need help typing up some papers and they said they where too busy to help me out!! There was one other person there.... and elderly gentleman also came over need help and he let them know that he was not Tec savvy and he could not see and they also told him they were too busy!! He stated that he could not see the small print, and they still told him no!! The young lady there tried to help the gentleman out and when she asked if she could some old hag told her no! Your really busy!! Ahhh!! Come on eagle pass
One of the best kept secrets in Eagle Pass. Beautiful and very organized. Needs to be used more by locals and children.
Not open to the public during the pandemic and yet the employees are receiving a full pay check. People can't even afford internet right now, and their own means of it is through the library. Way to drop the ball during this time of need, greedy bureaucracy!!!
The librarian was very helpful and super nice and very knowledgeable of where everything was clean relaxing and very well kept highly recommended
Library is outdated, mildew odor and staff not very professional or knowledgeable.
Why yall complaining its not bad
Great place for greet and meets plus they offer an amazing circulation.
