This place is a joke. I called in to schedule for my gun permit appointment. I was told to call the "permit line" which is just a number to an automated line to leave your name, number and application number. I did that and waited for a call back. A few days passed and no one reached out, so I attempted to call the station and there was no answer. My following off day which was a Monday I decided to head over to the police station to see if they could better assist me. I arrived at the station and was told to head over to "police services". I did so and there was no one at the window to service me. I'm not impatient so I sat and patiently waited for someone to come back. A few minutes passed and I see two women walk from the back and one woman looked over at me and said to the other woman "oh well". At this point I wasn't even sure she worked there but I now had my suspicions. The two women then proceeded to walk to the door leading outside and stand at the door and SMOKE. All the while I am waiting to be serviced. I then proceeded to call the station and the phone just rang and rang per usual. I then had my brother go ask if the women knew who was supposed to be working the desk to which one woman replied, "oh you need something". Mind you it is only my brother and I standing in the station and standing at the window of police services at this point. I went on to tell her my issue to which she replied, "oh they are just so busy, but they will call you back". I originally called almost two weeks ago now. I went in on Monday and here it is Thursday and I have yet to receive a call back. It's utterly ridiculous and incompetent individuals shouldn't oversee a department used in the process to license individuals. I also couldn’t understand why the phone wasn’t being answered during NORMAL business hours until I witnessed firsthand this woman completely leave the front desk unattended to go smoke.
Not the best Police Force for our City. Police only patrol the streets during the day time. When the Gun-Toting, Drag-Racing, Drug Dealers come out at night? There are no Police around. I believe they are afraid to patrol: Guthrie st, Pennsylvania and Block Ave. On June 30, 2022. Gun fire rang out on Guthrie st around 9pm. Some vehicles on Guthrie & Alder streets were hit by stray Bullets. No Police Officers in sight. What this city needs are strong fearless Police officers who are not afraid of Drug Dealers.
I can say they helped me find my son ,he had been missing for 8hrs the officer did a amazing job !! I was out. Of mind with worry.thank you so much for finding him unharmed...
East Chicago and a corrupt police officer, David Gemeinhart - In 2006, Detective Gemeinhart had placed a large metal FSBO sign that actually overhung part of the bicycle path, which is park property on a 100+ ft right-of-way, behind his house, endangering the Public. I picked up the sign and propped it up on the outside of his property fence, still on park property. Gemeinhart took the sign and returned it to the hazardous placement on the path. This process repeated itself two more times. Gemeinhart's wife Jacqueline threatened me with arrest, so I took photos of the offending sign placement and the couples obscene gesturing. I started to leave when D Gemeinhart approached while covered only in shorts, socks and shoes, and said, "I'm a cop, you want to fight?" He immediately took a swing with a closed fist at my face and could even feel the whoosh as I backed up, he took another swing and again the whoosh, at which point I raised my bike between us to protect myself. D. Gemeinhart then returned to his house, leaving the sign overhanging the path. I proceeded to the Hobart police station and in the process, I was approached by three Hobart squad cars and arrested. Gemeinhart falsely claimed I had assaulted and battered him as a police officer, and criminally trespassed onto the Gemeinhart property three times, all of course false. Unbeknownst to me at the time, shortly after being booked into the HPD jail, David Gemeinhart DELETED the evidence PHOTOS taken of the crime scene that I had taken. I was held illegally without a bond hearing for five days in the Lake County jail. David and Jacqueline Gemeinhart signed the complaint that were ludicrous and contradicted themselves; the ECPD, which Hobart PD said was making the arrest because Gemeinhart filed the complaint, which in of itself was unusual because that is normally left to the Prosecuting Atty, nor the HPD, failed to even take my story, investigate the scene for evidence, the sign left large holes in the ground next to the path, check for mutually contradictory statements of the two Gemeinharts, nor investigate who deleted the photos that would have proven D Gemeinhart was lying. A formal complaint was lodged with both the ECPD and the HPD. After a number of weeks and numerous telephone calls and a personal visit to each PD, I was told by both that, "all procedures were followed". In other words, both the ECPD and HPD condone officers destroying evidence without reporting that specific action, they fail to listen and note the accused's statements, and they fail to investigate anything that may show one of their officers is lying. If I had been found guilty, I could have been sentenced to four years in jail for the Gemeinharts' lies. The Prosecuting Atty's office assigned two lawyers to my case even while it failed to adequately support ongoing murder trials. The DA's office would not even discuss anything about this case with me even though I told them, at that time, that I was representing myself. I was found not guilty by a jury; it took the jury all of 10 minutes from the time to enter deliberations to the rendering of the verdict. For the ECPD to tell me "all procedures were followed," and it failing to investigate nor take punitive action against Gemeinhart for lying and for destruction of evidence is criminal.
There needs to be Justice for Aneiceia Moore, this department has failed her and her children. Have done nothing to protect her safety. And they have not even issued a warrant for the arrest of Charles Tolbert. People should be able to see justice when an attempt to take their life has been made. This department needs to be held accountable for ignoring and dismissing the justice that this woman deserves. Call and demand that they take action.
I was parked on the sidewalk in front of my home 1-5-13 where I have been parking for more than 5 years when the block is full. I just don't think that a woman should have to park on another block, and walk home when it's dark. Normally, by morning I would move my car because there would be better places to park, but this morning Ofc. K Chaunkria of the ECPD didn't give me time to do so. I just happen to look out my window at 8:38am, only to see him pulling on my car handles trying to set off my car alarm. When I came out to see what the problem was running back to his all black squad car. He was extremely insolent! He said he had put a ticket on my car, and that it would be a target for more. There was also a car parked directly in the yellow zone blocking the fire hydrant, but he walked passed it to put a ticket on my car! Can you say prick? I personally believe that he didn't have intercourse last night, raciest, had a quota to meet, and/or working on "brownie points." I have had just about the whole ECPD watch me park in the same place, and never would say a word. Now, to remind you that I just received this ticket this morning 1-5-13, but Ofc. K. Chaunkria predated the ticket for tomorrow 1-6-13. I think before people hire officers like that, they need to make sure they can document correctly, their penmanship is on point, and they are not as ignorant as they appear.
They kept Thor cool as a major mess erupted. They were totally not confrontational when they responded. Kudos to them. They have been helpful and not bullying whenever I have had to connect with them.
I’ve called twice and every police officer that was dispatched seemed as if they did not care. They cut me off when I was speaking and you can tell they honestly could care less.
Got in car crashes cop did not give my family information we’re I was taken did not come talk to me after crash and when I called to make a complaint the lady could she could care less and told me to come to station to do all that.
The police in this town are a joke!!!! Like it’s worst than Chicago they don’t do a damn thing! But they want to mess with the good people! I just moved here from Illinois this wensday and they are writing tow notices on my car after 2 days!! What a joke!!! Go find something to do! I’m pissed I have to give 1 start just to say this !!
