I have had all 3 of my babies with East Cooper OBGyn and 3 completely different types of births 1 regular, 1 emergency C and 1 scheduled C and they handled everything with the utmost professionalism. This practice does *everything* right, from the kind and caring front desk staff to the nurses, the ultrasound techs all the way to the follow up care you receive postpartum. I highly recommend Dr. Williamson- she is simply the best! She is the perfect mix of warm, straightforward and competent. It is worth waiting a bit more in the waiting room- her wait times tend to be a little longer because of how amazing/booked up she is. She never makes you feel rushed regardless of how busy she gets. Dr. Pound is wonderful as well! She went out of her way to make sure I got an rx for post surgery pain management quickly and efficiently when the pharmacy was giving me a hard time. I was pleased with all the labor and postpartum nurses in the hospital. 10/10 would recommend. It is priceless to feel like you are in great hands and you and your family will be taken care of.
UPDATE: Got the bill for the appointment described below. The provider attempted to bill for 7 different procedures which were all covered by the first one. The insurance company denied them. I was a new patient here last year and I will not be back. I have never had a gyno appointment where the doctor could actually not find my lady parts :-0 I have been happy with other East Cooper physicians, but not this group.
They are understaffed and don't answer the phones. I went to MUSC and have been told from multiple doctors that I was advised wrong about having another C section. I am glad that I went somewhere else because now I won't have an unnecessary C section. I feel that I was advised this way to schedule my delivery and insurance pays more for the surgery. If you had a C section and are there for another pregnancy and are advised that it's safer to have another C section, please get a second and 3rd opinion from another practice. Go to MUSC they are the best.
Dr Williamson is hands down the BEST doctor I've ever had. I wish I could just see her forever for my OB care. She always answered all of my questions, always showed care and compassion for my concerns, and is just generally a physician that has a high level of knowledge about medicine in general like the abnormality discovered on my ultrasound, not OB related and especially as relates to pregnancy. She always has a happy and relaxed personality, my husband said he saw her snap into a serious what he called "bad*** doctor" mode when the umbilical cord was wrapped around my baby's neck. Outside Dr. Williamson, the front desk staff are always very friendly and not in a fake way but in a generally friendly way to where I felt like I was family every time I came to the clinic. I would highly recommend this clinic, especially Dr. Williamson to anyone looking for OB care.
I typically do not leave reviews but after reading some of the negative reviews I felt compelled to say something. I have been a patient with this practice for 14 years and have seen just about each doctor at this practice and have never had a bad experience, period! After having a very bad experience 16 years ago with a well known OB/GYN practice I was terrified of ever letting any doctor touch me ever again. I was referred to what was then known as East Cooper Women's Center by a co-worker and referred to Dr. Bridgette Williamson. Dr. Williamson eased my fears and Dr. Toya Pound delivered my second child in 2011. I am still a patient of this practice and they have always treated me with the same compassion, care and attentiveness whether I was pregnant or not. I've been a patient for 14 years. I know each person in this office. Great practice with a great group of people!
I had Dr. Laura Stickler deliver my first baby, and I could not have asked for a better obgyn! I became preeclampsic towards the end of my pregnancy and she could not of been better at helping me remain calm during my labor at least as calm as one can be when delivering a baby. All of the nurses that were present were also amazing and so helpful, I felt so at home during this big life event. I never had any worries about my wonderful daughters safety while in their care. I would highly recommend using East Cooper as a place for delivery.
As a registered nurse, I've seen many doctors and these are the best examples of OB-GYN's that I've ever had to pleasure to meet in my life. I wanted to deliver at East Cooper hospital so I selected this practice fairly blindly. I choose them based of their ability to deliver at EC hospital, that it was an all-female practice, and my insurance covered it. This was the best decision of my life. I saw them from my first OB appointment till my postpartum follow up and they were terrific every time. First, their offices are beautiful, spacious, comfortable, and relaxing. I never had a problem sitting there for a few minutes. All of their staff is courteous and respectful. They are very professional! As an OB patient you primarily see your selected doctor, however towards the end of your pregnancy you are able to rotate to see all of the doctors in the practice before you deliver, just in case. This was great for me, because I went into labor when my Dr. was not available, but was able to deliver with my doctor and see her postpartum in the hospital. I had Dr. Cooke as my doctor, but since I'd had appointments with all of the doctors in the practice I will speak of them all. They are outstanding! Any question I had no matter how intimate or silly I thought it to be, they answered it professionally, with sensitivity, thoughtfully, accurately, and honestly. Any questions I had about natural labor and birth, episiotomies, my baby and my health status, exercise, sex, postpartum healing, pediatricians, saving my baby's cord blood, kangaroo care, postpartum depression, and more were answered thoughtfully and using the most recent and reliable data and recommendations. This made me feel wonderful knowing that my doctors are using the best up-to-date information when making clinical decisions with their patients. This practice really is a great example of patient centered care, they really focus on the woman's needs and expectations and strive to make each pregnancy and delivery special, happy, and a memorable one. I had issues early in my pregnancy that the doctors kept a close watch on and gave me the best information about so that I was able to deal with the information i was receiving appropriately and make the best decisions for my baby and I. Throughout my pregnancy whenever I got an ultrasound I was not only excited about seeing my little one growing, but also excited to see the ultrasound technicians that they have there. They are wonderful, kind, women who make the experience of seeing your little one and hearing those first heart beats special, memorable, and exciting. They don't rush you through the experience, and show you what they are doing and measuring as they go. We did not want to find out our baby's sex, so they made sure not to reveal this to us by accident ever. As my due date came and went Dr. Cooke and I discussed options for by baby who was estimated to be pretty big. She asked how I felt about an induction versus just telling me what I was going to get and scheduling it without talking to me about it and we discussed her rationale for wanting to induce and this point and her reasoning, in combination with the trusting rapport and her clinical expertise that she had already exhibited. In the end I went into labor naturally, and from the morning when my water broke tp the time I delivered I was in contact with and under the care of the doctors at EC OBGYN. As for my delivery, it was not easy, but the most wonderful experience that I could have asked for. After almost 30 hours of labor my son was born without incident into the gentle and encouraging hands of Dr. Cooke as she encouraged me, supported me, and coached me when to push. As Mother's Day approaches I just wanted to finally write a review that hopefully expresses the gratitude thanks and affection that I have for the bright, caring, professional, staff at EC OBGYN who helped me become a mom this year. Thanks!
Dishonest. Rude. Poor service. Very disappointed with this group of professionals, I hope Karen W. reaches out as promised. Update: Karen emailed me, has not called yet. 2nd Update: Never received a call back, we are moving on to another practice. We did speak to the doctor in person, who was great and apologized for the front office staff, however the front desk staff could use professional training on how to deal with the public. Honesty, empathy and responsiveness would be a few places to improve on from our experience.
I recently went in as a first time patient with East Cooper and was very nervous as I did not know what to expect, but Dr. Karen Hibert was phenomenal! She made me feel so comfortable and at ease, she took my concerns very seriously, and she gave me so much more information regarding womens' health including vitamins I can take including prenatal vitamins you want to take PRIOR to getting pregnancy, as well as referred dermatologists I'm a redhead so Im susceptible to issues such as Vitamin D deficiency and heightened risk for skin cancer!. She walked me through the entire procedure and really helped me to relax during my appointment. The staff as a whole were also very professional and friendly and the facilities are clean and up-to-date. I highly recommend, especially for young women who are attending their first ever appointment!
Horrible. They only care about being a baby-mill, they are fake to your face, and after you deliver they want nothing to do with you and pass you on to other doctors to fix any post delivery via cesarean issues. Way overrated and over priced. Save yourself the drama, go anywhere else. [Update: they called me and asked that I remove this review - nope- sorry people have a right to know the truth I recently had my second child also via cesarean and my new Dr at a different practice was appalled at the “butcher job” he saw on my insides and understands why I had issues post surgery the first time and told me I was lucky to have gotten pregnant at all the second time. He also mentioned that I bled out so much I should of had a blood transfusion, which didn’t happen. Having such a great Dr the second time around really made me see even more how bad this practice was ]
