Established in 1881, Eastlake Fire & Rescue is one of the oldest Fire Departments in the State of Michigan.
Welcome to the Eastlake Fire & Rescue Page, we are a group of like minded individuals who have come together in service of our community. Our coverage area is the Village of Eastlake, but we do have mutual aid agreements with every fire department in Manistee County. The basic requirements for becoming a firefighter in the State of Michigan are as follows, at a minimum a certification of Firefighter I must be achieved within 2 years after joining a fire department Firefighter I&II is recommended which is what the vast majority of Eastlake department is which is a 227 hour course. Eastlake Fire & Rescue is also a licensed Medical First Responder department, we are non-transporting, fully functional pre-hospital care department. Minimum requirements for MFR is a minimum of 60hrs of instruction and passing a national exam, some of our members are EMT-B which is a 194hr course to include a minimum of 32hrs of clinical time. All licensed medical personnel must complete continuing education units CEU's in order to maintain their licenses. In addition to the basic requirements for Fire and Medical we train on a regular basis of 2-3 times per month on various subject matter to maintain the highest standard of readiness for the communities we serve.
