This building is falling apart and you’re better off paying a little more to live in a different complex in the Arts District. Like other tenants have mentioned here, it’s the cheapest option in this area and it’s obvious why. There are always puddles of urine in the elevators. Either people are urinating in them or the other tenants are allowing their pets to relieve themselves and not cleaning up after them. I called the front desk about this issue and asked if they ever check the cameras to see why this is a constant thing and they said that the security cameras aren’t in service because of course they’re not. It makes me feel bad for the cleaning staff because they’re having to clean it up almost daily. The elevators are also constantly down. I’ve been here 3 months and they have been out of service twice. It took them an entire month to fix it the first time. Who knows how long it will take them this time. The gym and pool have apparently been under construction for 3 years and they sent an email saying that construction would be completed “sometime this quarter”. What’s the point of sending an email with no substantial updates? Like another tenant mentioned, they’re always coming up with an excuse to enter your unit for some reason or another. The management is doing the bare minimum and allow things to fall apart. I’ve sent several emails to the generic email that they ask you to reach out to and the emails bounce back. Things are communicated poorly or not at all. The few redeeming, positive things about this building are Margarito and the cleaning staff/maintenance. You should also know that the fire alarms go off at least 2-3 times a week in all of the buildings. I know someone who used to live here a few years ago and they said they experienced the same thing. So you’re going to be terrorized by the piercing alarm at odd, random hours of the day. You never know if these are legitimate alarms or if it’s just another issue with the building, so you have to debate whether or not to leave the building for your safety each time.
I gotta admit, upon touring this property my roommate and I were sold on a luxury style apartment in the Arts District. As of July 2022, I can tell you with full confidence that there is nothing "luxurious." The amenities have been under construction since 2019. Over the course of the year, they've rescinded every other perk they offer. No more concierge package service, all the packages are left in the mailroom for thieves. No parking security; cars are broken into or have parts stolen. No communication with the office; even when you try to report a problem the line never gets picked up and phone calls don't get returned. They got rid of the resident activated elevators; homeless people have been spotted in the halls. TBH, nice location but not worth the money.
It's advertised as a luxury apartment, but I can tell you that its not. We moved out earlier this year and I can't tell you some of the things we've had to deal with. Lack of amenities no pool, no gym for the past 2+ years; fire alarm being easily triggered from the middle of the night to any other time; no parking security; no secure packages; slow/lack of official communication they did get better; but anything is better than nothing regarding fire alarm testing, water shut offs, power outage/resets; faulty elevators; and the list goes on. The only highlights are their maintenance team and the concierge team. They're wonderful when they're available, but otherwise, I would not recommend this place unless there's no other apartment available in this region.
I have been a resident for seven years, and unfortunately, I have never felt so disappointed in a management company. Packages are being dumped in the mail room in the wrong building. As a result, multiple packages have been lost/stolen. I've started receiving my packages and mail elsewhere. My car was stolen from the parking garage, and management, specifically the property manager, NEVER called me to try and mend the situation since I was requesting video footage. It turns out the cameras don't work. I was never given a new parking pass and had to get temporary parking passes weekly. One day I forgot to get one, and I called the front desk at 11:30 pm the man that answered was extremely rude and said, "If you don't have your pass, I will tow you" TOW ME? After all the trouble I've gone through since my car was stolen, this is a JOKE! I went to the office about 11:45pm for a parking pass and asked the man to please refrain from speaking to me with the tone he had on the phone. He then proceeded to say, "DON'T START" At this point, I was extremely frustrated. He was yelling and acting extremely unprofessional. He refused to give me a parking pass; I was looking for street parking till 12:30 am. I called the office the next day to report the incident and I am still waiting to hear back. To this day I have not heard from management about my car that was stolen in October. The amenities have been closed since 2020 pool has been down since 2019, and the updates must give residents an actual timeline.
If you need a place to live and have a flexible life without noise sensitivity, this is a perfectly acceptable place to live. But if you at all rely on deliveries or want recreational amenities to be included in your living community, this is not the place for you. Main upsides: close to Little Tokyo, lots of coffee shops and restaurants, and honestly feels pretty safe to walk around alone. Main downsides: Unresponsive staff, terrible delivery experience, wildcard functionality of parking gates and elevators.
I recently moved into these apartments and I couldn't be happier with my decision. The location is fantastic - there are a number of stores and shops within walking distance, which makes running errands a breeze. From grocery stores to clothing shops everything I need is just a few minutes away. The convenience factor alone is worth 5 stars in my book. Overall, I would highly recommend these apartments to anyone looking for a convenient, comfortable, and enjoyable place to call home.
Apartment management is absolutely terrible. On my move-in date Jan 2023 that I had agreed upon with the leasing agent, she did not even show-up and I had to work with the front-desk people who are really nice by the way to get the keys to my apartment. I would've had to figure out where to go with a car full of stuff if it weren't for them. In Jan/Feb 2023, there was a hot water outage. It took nearly a week to fix the situation, and all of the residents had nothing but freezing cold water for an entire week in the middle of January. In March 2023, the elevator on my building has been broken for nearly a month, and I have to either walk the stairs 6 floors or go all the way around the building to get to the garage every single day. This is still ongoing... They're supposed to finish the construction on the pool/gym/etc in the next coming months, but I have very little faith in management considering how much stuff has broken in the past 3 months I've been living here.
How do you lease apartments? No one answers the phone. No one answers at Monday at 9am, Wednesday at 1pm, Friday at 4pm, or Saturday at 11am. Someone gave me a call 5 days after I filled out an application online. They gave me their email and said this is the best way to contact them. I hung up with them and then sent an email because I had a question. I still haven’t heard back. That was 5 days ago.
Where to begin... Save yourself some heartache and look elsewhere. You can get a lot more for a lot less. Even if One Santa Fe provided everything they promise and advertise which they don't it still wouldn't be worth your time and effort. Communication: What communication? My contact person was Michael but you will never have any communication with the agents or management. The concierge are pretty friendly most of the time and can be helpful. Amenities: You've got the shops. That's it. F45 gives you a class on Mondays, "Kombu" is convenient as is "Here and Now" both being pretty good. However, you will not have a pool. You will not have a fitness room. You will not have a lounge. Though still advertised, they've been under "renovations" for about 3.5 - 4 years but wearing the mask of "should be ready in 'X' months". Parking: If you plan on coming home after 6pm good luck. It's an extra fee to get a spot in the garage and they gave away more than they have so the common spots are first come first serve. There are some spots that are designated as reserved for an extra cost but these will never be available for you. There is a waiting list that unfortunately is never updated. While there seem to be an abundance of empty reserved spots, you will go mad doing loops around the parking garage to find a non reserved spot available. Rent: Though you won't use the amenities, you are of course expected to pay for them each and every month. Not only are you charged the full amount but your rent may even increase without any amenities opening up. Mail: You are expected to register a "Parcel Pending" box mainly for Amazon but it's really hit or miss. It is an extra cost even if it is not used. Also the mailroom is not monitored, easily accessible for anyone to get in, stolen packages are pretty common, and it's usually a collection of Amazon carrier crates so good luck hunting for your packages only to find it was taken. Maintenance: Probably the only redeeming quality. I've never had a problem with them. Response time is pretty quick. One of them has a little bulldog puppy. Fire alarms: Was more of a problem in the summer. We stopped leaving for them. Just buy some headphones and connect them to your tv. Trash services: I'm not going to complain about any service that requires a worker to dump my trash can for me. It's convenient, I hope they are paid well. The real upset is that the apartment could actually be nice but the owners and agents and managers absolutely ruin it. It's an okay area and there are other apartments that seem to be doing it right. If only One Santa Fe could get out of their way. It is a true punishment to live here and your hosts treat you as such. They sucker you into a lease and try to nickel, dime, and penalty charge every cent out of you. Why waste the time, heartache, and hassel? Take care of you and go anywhere else. Please.
I have just moved in to one Santa Fe and it is so cozy and clean, my unit gets lots of natural light and the area seems very safe and walkable. Valerii who assisted me on the move was so kind warm and welcoming he has really made this transition as smooth as possible I can’t wait to explore and learn more about the community: cheers
