Missouri meet Mississippi. This is a good side trip as the access road is right off the freeway. We saw quite a bit of wildlife just driving to the trail head. The hike to the point was easy and both rivers were running high when we visited. We were faced with 2 questions on our trek. 1. Which is named first the river or the state? 2. Why does a turtle cross the road?
Really weird place. Long drive in because the road was closed. Part of the trail was underwater. It was nice and the rivers were pretty, but it was strange.
Awesome place where the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers meet. About a one third of mile walk from parking lot to the confluence.
Beautiful nature, gorgeous at dusk. Lots of frogs, deer, jackrabbits, storks, eagles. The road in the park past the gate is 100% gravel, has no reflective signs or posts to indicate correct direction, sattelite works though. It takes longer to drive in a sedan vs truck/SUV, tons of wildlife out at sunset AND gates to the park are operated and closed remotely 30 min past sunset, on the dot. If you get locked in, a compact vehicle can fit through the boulders on the side by the gate, but best to call St. Charles Co. PD. The bathrooms were closed, parking area was clean, quiet. Path to confluence is not well marked, no lights on the path for dusk or evening outing either. Water levels were low, area was cleared, but we saw a beaver resting on shore and decide not to approach nor walk past to the peninsula point. Past visitors said area was closed, but now all signs are gone, park open 8am to ~9pm in summer 30 min past sunset.
A must visit for someone coming to STL .. a beautiful path leads to the spot where the two grand rivers Missouri and Mississippi meet…along the pathway, you will see lots of mulberry trees with sweet black fruits in summer that looks like the mini version of blackberries and tastes like one …delicious free dessert that nature provides! You can see Barges so close that go by the spot..don’t step on the rocks, just stay on the paved area.
Lovely place. Hard to get to with the Corps and MoDot construction, but if you're heading north on 367, I was able to get there by turning on to Red School road Dirt Cheap and making a left onto Wise Rd. Got me right onto Riverlands road with no worries.
A beautiful treasure near St Louis where Missouri River meets Mississippi River. The entry to confluence park is through a gravel off road. It’s amazing to see the waters merge. Loved being at this place. A must visit, want to go there again! Good for bird watching too!
wow! great view. You have too walk about 5-10 min but it should be accessible for everyone may be wheelchair users need a second person to assist. The last few miles you have to drive on gravel road to the parking. Restrooms: clean but no water for flush or hand washing.
Really cool place to visit. It has clearly been flooded a view times, but they are keeping up the walkways, so they were clean and clear. The drive there was beautiful!!
Beautiful meeting point of the Mississippi and the Missouri. So interesting to see how the observations made by Lewis and Clark many centuries ago about the relative flow speed and muddiness of the two bodies of water can still be observed today. Humans come and go, but the rivers just keep flowing!
