Hidden little gem for great tasting mexican food. Service is also very friendly and polite. The decoe is a bit plain and quaint, not flashy, but don't let that fool you. Just make sure you ask them to make your green chili hot if you like it that way. All the food is made from scratch and daily. I had the chili con carne, spicy and delicious. Also, try their chips and salsa, definitely worth just stopping in for those...made in house...yum!
We were pleasantly surprised! The food is amazing and the service was perfect! It's a Momsand Pops spot. It's been in business for 50 years!
the worst food and strangest experience I’ve ever had. I love hole in the wall restaurants however I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. Small steak, box rice, soup salsa, strange waitress, cash only, kids plate bean burrito was 4.95 plus 1.75 for beans and 1.75 for rice. Adult dinner plate was 7.00.. The waitress was forgetful and paced back and forth as we ate and quickly rushed us out by picking up plates and leaving tab.. DONT GO there
My daughter Katrina Olson has been ranting like crazy about this sweet little hidden gem! At last she was able to bring me here and I must say its humble and cozy and our server was a delight Kerril with a "K" she greeted us as if she knew us from way back... friendly and a take no bull$h!¡T kinda gal. I ordered the enchiladas but the owner /cook accidentally cooked Chilli con queso and what a spectacular mistake! My daughter was spot on about this place!!! The best Mexican food I've had in a very long long time!!! The owner / cook is amazing how she has ran this place since 1969... respect! We will definitely be coming back!!! Highly recommended!!!!!!
I do not live in the area but I do travel thru there at least once a year. I always stop there to eat. The owner is a very nice lady and she cooks everything fresh. nothing is made early and stored. I have never got sick from eating there. I recommend trying it for yourself and then deciding..I decide to stop by every year..
I have gone to El Camino for over 5 years. I always order the #5 it has everything in it to enchiladas, tacos, tamales, rice & beans, & a avocado salad plus chips & salsa. She makes everything fresh so I don't know how anyone can get food poisoning. El Camino has been there since 1969. & the owner of the restaurant is so nice. All I say is don't judge a book by its cover
Wow, what an experience. I have never seen a restaurant completely empty at dinner time. Anyhow, get ready to practice patience for the waitress is one of a kind. Calls the orders by number as she is unable to pronounce a single dish. I draw immediate comparisons to Finding Nemo's Dory. Nothing I have ever experienced; it makes me laugh thinking about it now. Good luck!
The service here is always SLOW. Directly, right now, sitting at the table, we 5 are the only customers. There have been three tables sitting dirty, un-bussed since we came in. Four full bus trays are visible through the back. Of 5 dishes ordered 28 minutes ago, two arrived incorrectly and my meal has yet to appear. The server just came back to ask me again what I had ordered, as it had been apparently overlooked. Refills are clearly a policy for other restaurants' staff. As well as smiling or making the basest overtures of human interaction and kindness.
Everyone was very nice but the food was terrible. It states it's homemade but the Mexican staple rice and beans both tasted like it came out of a box. Who can go wrong with chicken tacos? The chicken tasted as if it had been frozen several times. Worst yet... We were all sick the whole night. Wouldn't recommend it and never going there again.
Disappointed. Their large portion of guacamole was tiny and tasteless and for ~$5. We asked her to add avocado to one of our dishes, she said it will cost us a meal for that.. Really??? We were the only ones in the restaurant. Why am I not surprised?? They dint have good options in drinks as well. No salt in any of the dishes. Too much oil in the enchiladas.
