Great authentic Mexican meal. This place has been around for 100 years! They must be doing something right. Fantastic meal with great flavor marinated into the pulled beef. The green chili flavor came through the dish just perfectly. El Charo is the one place that is always included in every visit to Tucson.
The service was good once we got service. Sat 15 minutes with no one coming for a drink order there were only 4 other tables and about 5 people at the bar. Food was good, fresh, hot temperature def not spicy. Decor was really cool, lighting was soft, music was a bit loud, but an otherwise pleasant ambience.
Very good Mexican! We were visiting, but our family that lives in Tucson says that this is the best Mexican they've had while living there! My SIL says it has the best chimichangas she's had and chimichamgas are kinda her thing ; . We all shared combo plates. My favorites were the chicken tacos on flour tortillas. The chicken was SO moist! And the chicken tamales. They had the perfect amount of spice! The chips they served with the salsa and shrimp ceviche were authentic and delicious. They had a nice curtained off area indoors for our party of 40 people! The bathrooms were decorated fun and clean with a baby changing table. The bar had fun drinks and the decorations were charming.
Me and my girlfriend whent for lunch. We ordered Seafood Enchilidas and Quesabirria Enchilidas. They are both really good but we both decided the seafood ones are better. Beans are delicious and the rice is nicely cooked. The restaurant itself has a ver cool atmosphere and the music is on point. Check it out sometime.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: YesDelivery: YesCurbside pickup: Yes
Nice menu, I ate in the shade with my 3 besties. My Número Uno was filling and flavorful. Carlos was great, albeit we think overworked only server working? as service wasn't bad, just a little lagging at times. Looking forward to returning before leaving for back home...
Good food, excellent atmosphere and super friendly/helpful staff. They have some unique to Tucson dishes like Carne Seca which has a very distinct flavor due to the meat being dried in the desert sun. Drinks are killer here, the margs are spot on
My husband and I tried El Charro Café for Happy Hour and were not disappointed! The appetizer menu is substantial and with $2 off and generous portions, it is a real bargain. There was $2 off the margaritas as well. My favorite drink was the 1922. The Tamale Stuffed Mushrooms and Shrimp Ceviche were my favorite appetizers. The service was great.
Been to El Charro downtown MANY times, but this was the first time at the Oro Valley location. The quality is the same, but the location is much more convenient for us...especially the parking. The Rllano del Ray was delicious and so was the flan. Definable coming back.Food: 5/5
I had been to the El Charro downtown, but I hadn't been to the one on the Northside. We had the vegan stuffed mushrooms and ceviche for appetizers, and they were both so good and fresh. I ordered the seafood enchiladas, and they were great! Our food came out so fast. Definitely a great spot for lunch.
First off, the employee who put me on hold FORGOT that I was waiting for 10+ minutes. I hung up once I noticed I was forgotten about. Then I placed order online, BUT THEN THAT ORDER WAS CANCELLED BY THE RESTAURANT. So then, I had to call again and that went well. But then, I picked up my “Chicken Tortilla Soup” with the tortillas that I ordered with it. Instead, they gave me whatever the picture is I’m assuming it’s broth with avocado and no tortillas at all. And yes I ate some because I’m broke and paid $11 for this.
