El Paso holds weddings, banquets, and other special occasions along with a variety of recreational activities including bowling, volleyball, and pool.
The El Paso Sports Bar and Grill has been and will continue to be a fixture in the St. Joseph community. Established December 1, 1945 by Claude Menzhuber and his wife Marion, the original structure stood at what is now the town's pharmacy and medical complex. Following a fire that completely destroyed the business on December 17th of that year, the building was reconstructed and reopened on June 1, 1946. As business modestly thrived, the Menzhuber's relocated to a newer and larger facility in the spring of 1960. It was also at that time when the present bowling lanes were purchased from the St. Joseph Parish. Today, the El Paso, a name adopted by Marion Menzhuber from the Spanish word meaning "by the wayside", serves the local community in a number of capacities.
The ownership, comprised of the Menzhuber family, strive to insure that each and every customer is welcomed and properly attended to no matter what the occasion.
The El Paso Restaurant and Lounge includes a dining room (capacity of 75), a banquet room for weddings and other special occasions (225), a recreation room (100), and an overall capacity that will accommodate approximately 350 patrons.
Menu features include our famous hot roast beef sandwiches as well as a variety of sandwiches and appetizers.
The El Paso also features a variety of recreational activities to serve your interests. Bowling, darts, and pool are always available. In the spring men's and women's softball teams are sponsored. Volleyball leagues are formed starting in May through August.
The newest addition to the El Paso is the Patio, complete in the summer of 2005. It comfortably seats thirty patrons who are able to enjoy the passer-bys of County Road 75 with a cocktail and friends. The patio is a great way to enjoy "Minnesota Nice" weather.
The facility is also utilized by civic and private organizations, including Lions, Boy Scouts, Chamber of Commerce, and the St. Joseph Fire Department. Numerous other formal and informal events are also staged at the El Paso. Reservations may be made by contacting Carole at 363-4345.
