Authentic Colombian cuisine. Fresh from scratch, with excellent ingredients. The Restaurant is clean, the staff is genuinely friendly, I recommend every single dish because each dish has been prepared with love, and with the highest quality and hygiene.
Come enjoy this easy and relaxing place for simple folks. The food is amazing! The servers are friendly and natural yet they do their job well and constantly make sure you are well taken care of. I’m sure glad you can still find a genuine place like this that serves excellent food and provides exceptional service. This place is crowded for a reason! Come check them out, you’ll be pleasantly surprised! Top of my Colombian restaurants I have ever been to.
Had a really good experience here. Food was great and service was very attentive and friendly too. It was crowded and loud but worth it. Also loved the fresh juices. Vegetarian options: A few options as sides or appetizers like quail eggs, corn patty and yucca. There was no vegetarian entrees. Parking: Street parking.
Excellent place to enjoy authentic Colombian food. East Boston has a myriad of options for Hispanic food, but El Penol definitely stands out with its great quality food and friendly service. As attested by its consistent popularity among the locals, the place is certainly worth a visit. I recently had the chance to visit with my friends and got the tabla penol, bandeja paisa, and the soursop milkshake. Although we were the only non-Hispanic people in the restaurant, the servers were incredibly friendly and provided good explanations for the dishes we ordered. We started off with the tabla penol which was an assortment of different appetizers. Among these, my favorites were the fried empanadas and the pork rinds. Bandeja paisa subsequently came out in huge portions, and except for the steak, everything on the plate was delicious. The combination of fried pork belly, savory rice, and beans was especially satisfying. The soursop milkshake which tasted like a mix of coconut milk with honeydew was also a great drink to accompany with the food. Overall, these were undoubtedly the best south American dishes I had in Boston. Highly recommend checking them out.
My favorite restaurant in Boston, my favorite is the ceviche de chicharron, the arepa con queso, and the bandeja paisa. I go here at least once a week, the prices are good, the food is fresh and the staff is incredibly nice.
Good food. Food was well seasoned and fresh. The empandas were crispy and generously filled. I also order yuca fries and a Mini El Penol. Both were awesome. Definitely generous portion for a mini. Atmosphere was busy and loud! Great place to meet with Family and friends but you might not hear yourshelves talk. Dining room is spacious even though it's a small restaurant. I really like that there was space between every table. Making it easy to walk by. Though the entrance is not handicap accessible. My only complaint and the reason why I didn't give it 5 stars was that our server took our order and that was it. Never saw her after. We had to ask 2 other serves to get us water. Both forgot. Finally about 15 mins later we got water. We asked for our check. No one came back. I know most place are experiencing shortage in help. So I do plan to return and give then another try! If you find this review helpful, hit that ! Happy eating!
The food here is fantastic. Waitstaff is so nice and accommodating. Restaurant is small but cozy and clean. Ordered Bandeja Paisa and Bandeja Penol same as the paisa but with chorizo. YummyFood: 5/5
Not 5/5 for 3 reasons: 1 I went for breakfast and looked forward to a cup of Colombian coffee but it was so underwhelming. 2 Breakfast as a factor matters because many of the food options are rich and savory which is also delicious but felt limited in my case as I wanted something light. I had an arepa con cuajada generous portion of fresh cheese and it was satisfying. 3 Not knowing what dishes were made of even after asking about about some makes me wish ALL the plates had descriptions. The service was nice. Now I want to try their other location in Revere for lunch or dinner.
Absolutely wonderful food. The empanadas were amazing!
This is my favorite Colombian restaurant is so Good, I love the music, the food of course the Margaritas are boom, the only bad thing is the parking, and this place is always so busy. Vegetarian options: They have some yummy vegetarian options Parking: The parking is a challenge, it's on the street.
