About

Tulsa's OLDEST Mexican Restaurant, on Historic Route 66!!

Description

Tulsa's oldest Mexican restaurant located on Route 66.

"El Rancho Grande Mexican Restaurant originally began in 1950 on Boulder between 6th and 7th and has been in its current location on Historic Route 66 since 1953.Now, more than 60 years later, we are proud to say that a number of those early regulars are still our well-treasured friends, greeted by name and a smile. From the historic neon sign that still adorns the entrance of our one and only location, to “Tulsa’s Best” cheese enchiladas and margaritas, we constantly strive to preserve the restaurant’s 60-year history. We now have our upstairs cantina and Tequila bar with patio as our newest addition to our historic restaurant."

I can confidently say, that at the time of this review this is my favorite new Mexican Restaurant in Tulsa. I guess they have been around since the 1960's for a reason! The atmosphere is great, the food was phenomenal, the service and recommendation made by the server was on point! Highlight is hard to pinpoint, because it was all really great. Though, the Strawberry Cream Chimi was something I had never seen before, and it was AWESOME. I will definitely be back, and with more people!
Very unique place. Friendly and fast service, food was a good size portion for a really hungry person or enough to have leftovers if not. Unique in the building and atmosphere, cool vibe and not chaotic even in the middle of lunch. Definitely returning for a different dish and some more of the Colorado sauce!!! Vegetarian options: Just ask Kid-friendliness: Family atmosphere Parking: Plenty of room to park. Wheelchair accessibility: Handicap friendly for sure. Nice entry ramp and plenty of room in the dining room for walker or wheelchair without banging into your neighbors
Our favorite place for cheese enchiladas with chili con carne in the entire Tulsa area. Salsa is excellent a little spicier than most other places around here which we . Other menu items we’ve tried were average, but the cheese enchiladas are perfection. It would be cool if they had some draft beer options, but the enchiladas are so good that I overlook it.
Server did not know menu. No staff covered nose with mask. Food was overly salted. Uncomfortable chairs. Small tables for four people. Exceedingly long wait to cash checks. Wrong item on 1 check. Server did not know how 2 correct. Untrained staff.
I hate to leave negative reviews. We are not from Tulsa and decided to visit this restaurant as we drove by. This was a bad experience. We were very disappointed in the service and quality of food. Our server was very inattentive because he was focused on a larger party. Our food was basically inedible. The tamales are pictured. I tried to add things to make it better but I just couldn't eat it. I just cannot recommend this restaurant.
I got tacos with the tastiest shredded chicken ever! Also had a frozen strawberry mango margarita… yum! This has to be some of the best Mexican food I have had in my life! Next time I come to Oklahoma, this place will be on my list to eat at again!
The best roasted corn ever! I loved it and the chicken with chorizo and cheese on the top is so delicious the only thing is the rice isn’t authentic Mexican rice but was ok we enjoyed our meal
They have a good menu and everything is always very delicious. They make a fantastic strawberry margarita.
Fantastic Mexican Restaurant. We dined in with our elderly aunt who farts a lot and my uncle. Everybody loved the food. The atmosphere is a bit loud, but the Service was good and the food was fantastic.
The food was amazing. Very flavorful and nice portion sizes. I will definitely be back.Food: 5/5
