Attorney, Eric B. Barnes obtained his bachelors in political science in 1992 and his legal degree in 1995 from Brigham Young University. Mr. Barnes devotes his practice solely to estate planning and elder law with special expertise in asset protection from the cost of long-term care, incapacity, and customized trust-based estate planning. Mr. Barnes is currently serving as the first full-term Chair of the Elder Law Section of the Utah Bar. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and is one of only three attorneys in Utah certified as an elder law attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation. Mr. Barnes serves on the Boards for the Weber/Davis County Estate Planning Council and Cottages of Hope, a local charity. Mr. Barnes is also a member of ElderCounsel, a national organization of attorneys who share resources and expertise to provide top quality estate and long-term care planning solutions to their clients. Mr. Barnes is also an independently licensed life and health insurance agent. Mr. Barnes enjoys teaching and has provided education services for many groups in the community including attorneys and other professionals. On a personal note, Mr. Barnes is married and has 4 sons, and 1 daughter ranging in ages 9 to 20 years.
