The cabin I stayed in was very clean. It had a kitchenette with an induction cook top. Provided also were all the dishes and pans needed to cook and serve a meal. The cabins overlook the lake and are very quiet. Dogs are allowed. Also, very reasonably priced. I stayed for one week.Rooms: 5/5
My kids had a great time here. The casitas are comfortable, but don’t have a lot in the kitchen just fyi. Very close to the water and the area was quiet.
The casitas we stayed in were more like "glamping" than a hotel experience but the Casitas were clean and comfortable. We stayed several nights and they were able to give us a discount when we added an additional day since we had been there almost all week. Very friendly and helpful staff that really cared about the place. They also did have a more hotel-like lodge and an rv campsite area as well. There was a boat launch on site as well.
It was nice to finally see some water. We're originally from Florida where water is abundant. This place was quite the retrieve for a weekend. All the necessities were available, weather was spot on, and the sites were beautiful. We truly enjoyed the experience.
This is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. We stayed there recently with our large family. The staff were pleasant and ready to help with our needs. It was nice to be so close to the water. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen came with dishes, some cooking items, microwave and refrigerator. The view of the water was great. It had refrigerated air that was nice to come back to after a full day of playing on the lake. We had a great time. We'll be headed back soon.
Damsite Historic District is not legally part of the state park it's currently open 24/7. 7 days a week. It's actually federal government property. Rio Lago are the care takers of the property. Website is: Rio Lago.com.
Elephant butte lake is BEAUTIFUL!!! At the moment on the State side of the lake, it's open from 6 am to 8 pm and you have to leave. BUT, on the side by the dam, it's Federally owned. You can stay all night. They have casitas, a large lodge, RV parking with all hook ups and of course camping on the beaches. There has been more people this year than there has been in many years. The lake has been REDISCOVER!!!!
Making full time rvers move so people have a chance to come in for 2 weeks at a time. Water is not safe to let your dogs drink. Boating is ok. Beautiful on Winding Road camping, no hook ups there but worth the view. Winding Road is above the Dam Site rv area.
Bare bones but amazing views from RV spots 1-3 overlooking Elephant Butte. Loaded with interesting history. A truly unique experience mid week. Operators said the weekends are very crowded.
The bed was almost as hard as the water. There's no wifi or phone service unless you're out by the road. I felt for the price you pay you should at least have WiFi. Beautiful view of the Butte though. There's no TV either. Cozy little spot with a nice view but I don't think I'll be going back.
