The Elgin Public Library is located at 1699 Division Street. The Library provides free services to all residents living within the Elgin School District boundaries.
The library holds over 19,461 materials including over 16,565 books, and 1,081 audio books on compact discs/cassette tape. Over 785 movies on DVD and Blu-ray are also available for check-out. In addition to the Library's collection of books, audio books, videos, music, and magazines, patrons also have access to borrowing from the collections of over 70 other libraries in Eastern Oregon through the SAGE system.
The Elgin Library offers public access to the internet through computers in the Library, and Wi-Fi, as well as Library2Go and LearningExpress. The Library also provides copying, scanning, and faxing. The Library is a member of VAM and is happy to offer a discount on photocopies and faxes to veterans and active military personnel who have a VAM card from the Union County Veteran and Current Military Members Committee. With a DD form 214 or NGB Form 22, VAM cards maybe obtained at the Elgin City Hall, Union County Chamber of Commerce, Union County Veteran Service Office, American Legion Post, or Veterans of Foreign Wars Post (VFW).
