My experience with Dr. lebel has been pretty extensive. I have multiple rare and chronic illnesses. She always listens to my questions/concerns and addresses them. Dr. Lebel puts her patient's needs first. She is very knowledgeable and is cutting edge in my opinion. she collaborates with my specialists and provides excellent care. I TRUST Dr. Lebel. I admit that I am very involved in my own healthcare needs and I am pretty selective with my providers. I have left many physicians that did not seem to connect with me as a patient. I have been a patient of Dr Patrick Lebel for many years. I have multiple family members that I have recommended and now they also love Dr Lebel. Changing affiliations with hospitals and office locations had minor issues to work out, that is true of all physician practices. The nurses have always been responsive and helpful. Dr Label is an excellent physician. If you want a doctor you can trust and depend on I highly recommend Dr. Lebel.
After a 5 year search for a good GP in the Columbia area, I finally stumbled across Dr. Lebel. She is excellent!! After 5 years of other doctors passing off my complaints as nothing, or just old age late 50's!!, or being menopausal male doctors - she really listened. She ordered some common tests the other doctors should have thought of, and has referred me out to several other doctors. She has kept active in the search for a diagnosis for chronic pain and weakness, and always explains the science behind what she is thinking.
To start, I selected one star just to be able to describe my disdain for this doctor. My experience with this doctor was one of utter disgust! I contacted the answering service in hopes of getting assistance for my mother, who is a patient of a different doctor within the practice. I will give her praise for her prompt response, she contacted me within 10 minutes of me leaving my message regarding my mother. To my surprise, when I explained to her what was going on, she had very little empathy or bedside manner. In fact, she acted as if I disturbed her Saturday night festivities and rushed to end the call. She asked very little questions and her suggestion was to go back to the ER. NOW, I'm aggravated and perplexed. If I just told you that we all got sick at the ER a few days ago and you want me to back, what part of this is participating in active listening? This doctor was no help and these are the people we leave in charge to care for us and our loved ones. She knew I was upset because all I could say was Wow, during our call. She could care less how or what happened to my mother, she just wanted to get back on with her night. I do not recommend this person as a healthcare professional, perhaps she was having a bad night but this is not how you handle your medical customers.
If I could give 0 stars, I would! I encountered Dr. LeBel upon calling after hours for a prescription for nausea. She was absolutely the rudest, most condescending doctor I have ever experienced. She was not helpful at all and did nothing but ridicule and degrade me for simply needing something to help with nausea. She treated me like I was asking for opioids or narcotics!!
I was a patient of Dr. LeBel's then Dr. Patrick from ~2006-2010. I repeatedly complained of constant fatigue & hunger, & concentration difficulties, as well as allergic reactions. Dr. LeBel told me I was depressed, even though I didn't feel depressed. She put me on anti-depressants, which didn't do anything, but made me gain 30 lbs, which was depressing. I changed doctors in 2010 & was diagnosed with ADHD & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, but not until 2016/17 did I receive diagnoses of the actual problems after I found the correct diagnoses myself. What I really had was Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome POTS, which Dr. LeBel could have diagnosed simply by taking orthostatic vitals, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome a genetic connective tissue disorder, which could have been diagnosed by a simple clinical evaluation, and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome MCAS. I also had Idiopathic Hypersomnia unrelated to my non-existent depression, diagnosed by a polysomnography and MSLT, which could have been diagnosed 10 years earlier, if she'd bothered to order a sleep study rather than just assume I must be depressed when I wasn't.
I wouldn't wish my worst enemy here. They are too busy and do not care about their patients. They take your money, make you wait 40+ minutes to see you for less than 10 minutes and then push you out the door. They do not call you back, you have to continually follow up with them to get anything done. I had severe chest and lung pain for over 2 weeks, they simply did not care. In the end they punted me off to someone else to figure it out. I was devastated. I will never go here again.
Dr. Lebel is awesome. She listened to me and had some wonderful suggestions for my condition. I feel blessed to have crossed paths with this wonderful physician.
She does blood work that is specific for your concerns, not just the general CBC... She gives me alternatives, that are not pills, like my hormone cream from Hawthorne's Compounding Lab. She thinks outside the box.
