We had a wondeful stay in one of the small cabins at Elkhorn RV Resort. The cabin had everything we needed and the common area was very comfortable and great for hanging out with friends after a long day running in the mountains. The hosts are very kind and welcoming. Will definitely stay here again!
We really enjoyed our cabin stay. Owners are super friendly. The porch and gazebo were a nice surprise and great gathering spot. Restrooms: Clean and uncrowded.
Linda and Allan are such welcoming hosts. Their quaint campground has anything you could need. From spacious bathrooms with piping hot showers, a beautiful community fire pit area and propane grills for use. For tent camping, highly recommend as they have a lovely grassy area by the main office so campers aren’t on the rocky/gravel ground. The location is perfect as it is not on the main drag through town, so noise is not an issue, yet anything you need is less than a half mile walk. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will certainly be back next time we are in Lake City!
Probably the best RV Resort we've ever been to. The amenities were amazing and it was spotlessly kept up. We will definitely be coming back!Location: 5/5
We stopped in last minute for a one night stay and had a lovely spot overlooking the bluff. Linda and Allan were very nice and accomodating. The place is adorable. We enjoyed time by the fire pit that evening, also clean showers in the morning. Easy walk to town. Would stay again for sure.
Definitely our favorite place to stay in Lake City. We rented the Treehouse cabin and found it to be perfect for a family of 4. The grounds are well maintained, the cabins are clean & lovely, and the overall atmosphere of the resort can’t be beat. Owners are so awesome and accommodating too. We’ll definitely be back and can’t recommend enough!
This campground is really exceptional, you can tell the owners truly care about making it a welcoming place for guests. The location is wonderful, the atmosphere is very friendly, and the amenities are excellent. We will definitely come for a longer stay next summer.
Stayed here in mid-August. It was hard to get a spot and I see why. Great 4 wheeling community rentals everywhere and great weather, shaving about 20 degrees off Denver in the summer, or 10 degrees off Gunnison/Blue Mesa. The famous Alpine Loop takes off right out of town, and they are allowing OHVs on the town streets during the summer good or bad, depending on your point of view, but I did not find anyone to be obnoxious at all. We stayed in a pop-up we rented in Denver, first time. The spaces themselves are nothing fancy - basically a gravel lot - and the electric was oddly far out of the way, but made out fine. The owners and other guests are super nice. Seemed like most of the guests were retirees. Not sure if the area or time of year, but not many families around. The whole place is well thought out. The bathrooms are close/central and are nice/clean. There is free coffee every morning, which was nice to not have to brew your own. There is $3 self service 10# bags of ice, which were really handy. It was a slight disappointment to not have a fire pit, but there is a central one that is tended by the owners so you can get that experience and perhaps be a little safer as a result. There is a nice laundry with slop sink, soap and sponges to wash dishes. There is a covered patio with several tables that is great on a warm day. Beware of bears in the area and store your food inside a hard sided vehicle. Most of the town is about a 10 min walk to shops, food, etc, which was nice. Groceries are very limited and expensive more so than dining out it seems. Do know that if you need to board a dog e.g., going 4 wheeling for the day that it will be a 1+hr drive each way to Gunnison. We boarded overnight to not add 4hr+ to our wheeling day, and picked up the next day when we went to Blue Mesa reservoir. This would have been easier to stay in Ouray/Ridgway area, where there is local boarding and access to the same trails. Maybe next time, although staying south of town near Lake Cristobal looked nice if you wanted more scenery and quiet.
We rent two cabins for a week. From the time we got there till the time we went home, Alan and Linda made us feel right at home. The cabins was clean and comfortable. The restrooms and showers was always clean and ready to use, day or night. Free coffee ready at 6:30am sometimes with sweet goodies. These two folks work from early in the morning to way late at night for everyone. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a nice, clean, and friendly place to stay. We will be back again next year. Thanks Alan and Linda for a wonderful time. Gene
RV sites are extremely tight, your picnic table sits right next to neighbor's dump. No individual fire rings. Cabin's do not have bathrooms or A/C , just in case you missed that info in the descriptions. Owner repeatedly threatened 1,000 dollar fine if our 5 lb dog wasn't leashed to the cabin properly. Icing on the cake...owner will NOT refund our 200 deposit for our next cancelled trip, which was over 6 weeks out, due to family illness. Would NOT recommend this park.
