I came here at my Ellis primary care physicians request and was found to have very low potassium. They decided to give me IV potassium. The nurse came in and hung a bag of saline and small bag of the medicine and started the IV. Within a minute, the pain began, it was the worst I ever felt. I pressed the call bell and a tech came in and told me, yes this medicine burns sometimes. Another person came in 5 minutes later and told me the same thing without checking the IV. 20 minutes more go by when the PA came back inand Now I couldn’t move my arm for the muscle spasms and was in tears. She too said, 'yes it burns sometimes, that is why we run it with Saline.' Then she looked and said 'the saline isn’t hooked up!' and went to find the IV nurse. IV nurse came back in and in her rush of hooking up the saline bag, ended up spilling half the contents of the potassium all over me, the stretcher and the floor. She apologized, put a towel over my wet gown and quickly left the room. As soon as the saline was running, the pain went away. When the PA came back, I told her that what had happened and she apologized but I didn’t think she was listening so I said again “she spilled the medication I was supposed to get”. I insisted that an incident report be made as the PA was now not sure exactly how much Potassium I had received. I felt totally dismissed when I reported severe pain. Go ahead and google why you don’t give IV potassium without Saline. I never received the followup phone call they mentioned either. I never received a patient satisfaction survey. I never received a response to the complaint I lodged either. The short note given to my PCP only stated that amount of medicine received unknown. She was appalled when I told her the situation. Stay away.
First off my husband went in had a stomach bug was dehydrated was just expecting an IV and to go home,they told him his heart and kidneys were failing sent him to the Schenectady hospital was there 3 days pumping him full of meds and tests,he then has to go for a stress test guess what absolutely nothing wrong with his heart! Than that same time fram took my daughter cause she had an ear infection,they billed mewith ins over 500$ I was sending them money every 2 weeks when I got paid but they sent me emails every week that it was late and delinquent! Now its in a collective agency. Ellis in a whole is horrible and I will NEVER go there again
I mean it's an urgent care facility so no one is going there in a good mood but we were taken care of quickly and the staff was very nice. Have had to go there a few times and we are happy it's there.
I will never again trust this “medical center” with my family’s health needs. I rushed my son to the emergent “care” hoping he would receive treatment for a dog bite. He was still bleeding and the bite had not been cleaned. After 2 1/2 hours of waiting and being spoken to abruptly by a nurse??? he walked out with discharge papers and asked me, “Why didn’t they even put on a bandaid dad?” Great question….can I give zero stars?
As of right now I have been waiting for two hours in a room having a severe allergic reaction. Saw the Dr an hour ago said he was prescribing medications to calm things down and then observe me. Have yet to get any medication, all that is being observed is I’m getting worse while sitting here.
I have been here twice both with great experiences. My husband came in with calf pain we thought it might be a blood clot from his hip surgery. We went up to the window and they brought is right in and we saw a doctor within 5 minutes. They did an MRI and found everything to be fine. We left after the total time spent there was about an hour. I came in with heel pain and was walked right mack to a room and saw a PA after 10 minutes and had an X-ray within 10 minutes. Way better than any urgent care or emergency room I have ever been in. The staff was very professional and and nice. I will come back again if I need to! Highly recommend this place!
Despite some poor reviews the experience with our young child was great for a sore throat. The attending PA accommodated my preferences for care and did a culture as well as a rapid test. The bedside manner of the PA and nurses was pleasant. The wait was on par with other urgent care in the area.
My wife took our 1 year old daughter here who had a 100 fever when entering, this was at approximately 8PM, It is now almost midnight and my daughter still hasn't been seen they closed at 9:30, My daughter also now has a 104 fever and the nurse who blamed my wife for not giving my daughter Tylenol before coming here said she cannot administer any medication before the doctor has seen my daughter. as a nurse, when you see a baby with a 104 fever you shouldn't put blame on anyone, and you should give Tylenol or something to help. not be rude, absolutely terrible company I will also be filing a complaint with the department of health.
I would have left a no star review if that was possible. Very misleading I went under the understanding it was an Urgent care, that’s what the building said and that’s what the I guy stated the charges was as well. So I called my insurance company and asked why I had a $175 bill and they said Ellis charges it as an Emergency Room visit and that’s what the copay is. I told the bill clearly statesURGENT CARE as the description. They told me I had to call Ellis and work it out with them, ultimately they said they charge as an Emergency Room visit. Very misleading. They said I can write to dispute the charge .. I was calling to dispute the charge! Not wasting my time, hope they lose business for falsely representing themselves!
“Your call is important to us” I strongly DISAGREE. An hour wait time on phone, just to schedule an appointment. If you have a personal shortage, go find someone. The representatives are rude and not responsible, my questions weren’t answered, and my needs aren’t met. I was transferred to a WRONG office. POOR services, I’m done here.
