I played Ely Park several times this summer, after having avoided the place for years. It had really gone downhill, but this year the course was immaculate, even during the driest parts of the summer. The new restaurant/bar is beautiful and the views are magnificent. Well done. Can't wait to get back up there in the spring.
The course is in great shape and the guys who run the place are kind, friendly, and care about the customer’s experience. I have brought my wife and brother-in-law to golf, both for the first time, and both were welcomed and encouraged. They are also renovating the clubhouse upstairs and putting in a full bar and restaurant, which is supposed to be done this summer.
Not the best golf course I have ever played on, greens very poor , with different grasses, but I just wanted to compliment the lady in the cafe/ bar. Both before and after the round she was a real gem. Clearly understands service and enjoys her job. The review was meant for Ely on Par golf course, Ely Cambridgeshire
Course in great condition, employees were friendly, decent prices.
Golfed there last weekend and had a good time. The course was challenging at times and had some really cool features. One hole had a ravine to shoot over and it kept the course interesting. There were patches of dead grass but it was to be expected from a place sitting on a hill. Fast carts and a fair price $35 for a cart and 18 holes. Definitely a place where if you play there multiple times it’s easier, because the pins can be hard to see from some tee boxes. Would golf there again for sure.
Played this course a few times last year and absolutely loved it. It was an amazing condition and a great round for the price. I played again in late August this year and the course is completely falling apart. The fairways were burned which is to be expected a bit but far far worse than any other course I played this year. The greens were in absolutely horrid shape some of them were burned so badly the grass was dead on the ground had cracked! There are sprinkler systems on the greens and all it takes is just a minimum amount of water to keep it from dying. this has just become a one of the most awful courses in the area due to poor maintenance and worse personnel.. Update, fave it another chance a few weeks ago. Still could use some work but much improved.
Much better since new management. Easy on, nice greens, Great Views, great location, a City Gem!
I wish I could rate this place less than 1 star. My friends and I have been going to this course every week for the last two months, and for the most part we have enjoyed our experiences. Today we did not. The course is very poorly kept; I resent how much time I have to spend looking for golf balls through the leaves and the greens are terribly kept. Then, we were approached on the 7th hole at around 5:15pm and we told by a worker that we needed to be done by 5:30. Our tee time was 3:30 and we were never told that we needed to be finished in two hours. Also, the website states that the course is open until 9pm, and we have golfed at the same time on a Thursday without a problem. Then ten minutes later, the same worker approached us again with another person to tell us it was time to go. They were both rude and would not give us an explanation. There were also people playing behind us and they did not say a word to them. They just followed us out. Normally golf has been a great way to relax after a long week of work, and today the service of Ely Golf Course ruined that. We were treated HORRIBLY and for absolutely no reason. I absolutely would not recommend this course to anyone that loves golf.
What a beautiful day in December to golf! Thanks for being open!
The staff is always curtious at Ely Park. Unfortunately the grass on the course was a bit high and thick on the second cut. It made It nearly impossible to find your ball unless it was directly in the fairway. There was a group of ladies behind us with the same problem. Losing balls is part of the game, but not every 4 holes on decent shots. Too bad most courses in this town cut back on course maintenance this time of the year!
