Our credit union caters to all emergency responders and their immediate families throughout the state of North Carolina.
Emergency Responders Credit Union was chartered on April 1, 1940 to create a credit union for firefighters. There were sixty-three charter members. The credit union of the 1940's was very simple. Members deposited money in a savings account so that other members could borrow money. Depositors earned excellent dividends and borrowers paid low interest rates.
From this simple beginning the Emergency Responders Credit Union has grown in membership and services. We are a full service credit union focused on providing financial benefits to each of its members. We continue to serve those who serve others. Our field of membership is:
"Employees and Volunteers of Emergency First Responder Agencies as defined by the Homeland Presidential Directive (fire service, emergency medical responder, emergency management, law enforcement, and hazardous materials) in the State of North Carolina and Emergency Responders Credit Union employees, retirees of said groups, and members of each groups immediate family, and organizations predominately of such persons."
Our purpose is to provide credit and services to our members at a reasonable cost, to pay equitable dividends on our savings plans, and create a sense of ownership and belonging for each member.
