Wow, sobering experience walking through this museum. It’s definitely a must visit though! The story of Emmett Till and what his mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, went through was so horrific. Insane how something so inhumane could happen to a human!! It really gets you to think about how we treat others and even if we stick up for others when they are faced with circumstances where they need help. My heart breaks for Emmett and I am so inspired by his courageous mother, Mamie. The museum does a great job of telling their story and paying homage. A trip to Mississippi isn’t complete without stopping by here to learn some important history!
A great museum for a tragic set of events. The exhibits are amazing, including a set of the Bryant storefront and replica pieces of evidence the gun, flashlight, barbed wire, hatchet, etc.. The staff cares about this story and was informative. DEFINITELY worth a visit.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
I had a very good experience walking through the museum with Mayor Johnny Thomas. He explained a lot of the exhibits and he was very professional and knowledgeable about each and every one of them. The museum has come a long way since my last visit and they are doing some amazing things with the Emmett Till Historic Museum....PLEASE VISIT!!
While visiting Mississippi for my husband's job I decided to look up historical sites in the area and I found this. This is a very sad part of our American history but also a very important part of our history. It was a very informative and moving experience. The women that were working there were very friendly and welcoming. If you are in the area or close by I suggest you check it out.
History buffs will love this museum. We visited and were welcomed by Mayor Thomas who also provided his historical viewpoint. The tour includes a documentary and a self-guided tour. See for yourself.
We went to Nashville, Birmingham, Montgomery, Selma, Philadelphia and Money/Glendora. But Glendora stuck in the memory the most. Such a significant spot. The app is helpful. The history is stunning, both Emmett Till and others. Didn’t realize this county was number one in US for child poverty or number one for lynching in Mississippi. You can read about the history but nothing comes close to actually seeing it firsthand. The other civil rights sites are bigger, more people view them. Think the government of Mississippi or Washington could put more money into developing this as a must see location. The entire trip was great but I’ve talked more about Glendora than all else combined. This was history, But important.
Very informative and well put together. Great history of the area, the Till family, and the murder. Definitely worth a stop if in the area or interested in civil rights.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
Such an immersive and impactful experience start to finish. The guest log was a nice touch. The woman who greeted us was friendly and knowledgeable- she even gave us directions to find other historic sites!

Very moving experience. I got to meet the Mayor of Glendora and he autographed my book I purchased from him that he wrote.
