I recently had an appointment here and this was by far one of the most positive salon experiences I have ever had. It was my first trip to a beauty school, but it most definitely will not be my last. The students are so excited and passionate about their work, and it shows in the final product. Jocelyn was one of the student stylist that assisted me, and I was impressed with her professionalism and talent. The instructor took the time to ensure the cut was just perfect, and I appreciated learning some styling tips myself. I could not be happier with my hair. The quality of the work here rivals that of several well-established salons.
I had my hair washed, cut, and a blow out done on Friday by my wonderful stylist! This was my first time here and I appreciated the time and precision that was taken to my hair. Anytime the head instructor that was on the floor came by to see how things were going she was helpful and so polite to me and the girl doing my hair. My hair looked beautiful at the end and my whole experience was great. I highly recommend coming to this salon!
Staff and learning coordinator as well as management were friendly and very helpful with the enrollment process made it seem so easy and they call to check on you to make sure everything is completed on your end , so there’s no way you can miss anything.
I wanted to give a SHOUT OUT to Shannon, student and Ms. Lisa-teacher as they did an AWESOME job twice on my hair. I went to them back in June of 2023 for highlights and a haircut. Things were going well till Mrs. Luck came on the salon floor. Her behavior was unacceptable when Shannon was trying to finish my hair. I went back on 7/13/23 to get my roots done as I have an event I need to go to and I wanted to look my best. Things were going well and Shannon was almost done with my hair, Mrs. Luck’s unappropriated behavior came out again while clients were on the salon floor. I am a professional and in my opinion, if she had a problem with something/someone, she should have pulled that person aside off the salon floor and addressed it there, not in front of all the students and clients in the building. This was not how it was handled. Very disappointing that Mrs. Luck could ruin a great experience that the clients are having with the students who are doing a FANTASTIC job. In my case Shannon was telling me how to care for my hair, style and look my best. Ms. Lisa is an outstanding teacher to these students, you don't want to loose a good one because of others bad behavior. I would have given a 5 star had it not been for the behavior I witnessed twice while I was there.
I have been coming here since 2009. I came in last this past February and was very disappointed. I asked for a hdrv color and came out with an hdrr color. While still pretty it was not what I wanted or asked for. I used to be charged anywhere from $45 to $65 for the color and deep conditioning treatment but they charged me $115 now. I could've went to a professional salon for $95. I even have the recipe for what they used before, which when I told the stylist about it she ignored me. As a long standing client of the school her lack of communication was a put off and when I spoke to the instructor about it she didn't respond to me either. This was disheartening to me as I have only had 1 other color correction done here after service. The last time was in 2010 and they apologized for it while this time they refused to acknowledge the mistake. Attached are the before and after pics of my hair.
I came in to get my hair detangled and twisted it was a hot mess and I loved how the students looked out for each other. I go to regular salons and they act as if they hate each other smh. This was a very good experience. Very cool ppl.
I took my 3 girls here for a wash and blow dry and we were helped by Mee Mee, Tyshawn, and a very nice young woman but I didn’t catch her name. They were all professional, pleasant, and they all did a great job. They did great with children and we will be returning.
Me and my daughter Jasmine came to empire beauty school to get skills to graduate in a year. Turns out the instructor there was very rude to me and my daughter only and constantly pick on us to point where it affected our test scores in the classroom. We did not have any hair experience and was judged . Felt like talking in codes to the students about us . It wasn't a good experience for us. Disappointed
Imani was the stylish that did my hair she was excellent. My hair turned out beautiful I can not wait to go back. The instructors were on the floor making sure that the student stylist were comfortable and knowledgeable of styles that the clients requested.
DO NOT go to this school. They lied about saying that they understand about family and your personal life since your life doesn’t revolve around the school. They don’t accept doctors notes and use that against your attendance percentage for things that are out of your control. It mentally brought me down and I couldn’t take all the drama of going from West Broad to Midlothian. They make up the rules as they go. I emailed the school and said I’m done and to email me the papers to sign and that I would sign it electronically. I know it’s possible because I did that over at West Broad. I received no papers to sign and when I got my papers back in the mail a MONTH later, they put down an excuse that’s not even true. All they do is care about money. If you want to go into over $21,000 in debt for drama and lies, this is the place to go.
