My parent had this company and MOVED AUGUST 1st. My parent wrote them several times to alert the company of move. EDE said they started another level pay year for us in September because the parent didn't CALL THEM to cancel. EDE has charged us 120.00 for August, 120.00 for September and now 381.00 in October ... my parent no longer lives in state. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF
My bill went up $200 dollars and I'm just supposed to accept this absolutely not! Can't stand the lack of customer service "mine was high too"
I’ve finally gotten irritated enough to leave a review. By far the worst electric company I have used. We have our power go out intermittently at least 2 times a month and I work from home. The nail in the coffin, it’s Christmas morning and our power went out while cooking our Christmas breakfast. If there were any other choice it would be awesome, but we are stuck with them.
Empire electric and centurylink are competing for worst business on the planet. Wish I had a dime for every time my power has gone out. But they sure don’t have a problem raising their rates! Lame company
I have lived in Denver, Kansas City, and Springfield and had a different electric company in each city. I can honestly say Empire Electric is by far the worst electric company and one of the worst companies I have ever experienced. This company charges absurdly high prices with no reliability. I've been charged as much as $200 in a month for a two bedroom apartment just for an A/C, refrigerator, and other basic appliances. For that kind of price, I would want great service, but Empire never guarantees this. I've had power outages on completely clear and sunny days that can last several hours with no way of knowing when power will be restored. Empire has no communications to know what to expect in these scenarios, and there is little way of getting in touch with anyone in the customer service department. There are better proven ways to run an electric company, but Empire Electric simply is not concerned with customer satisfaction.
WORST electric company I’ve ever experienced. Would give zero stars if possible. I asked them several times if we could figure out how to keep the electric on and switch it to my name once my roommate moved out and they shut it off anyways so now all my food has gone bad and I’m still without electric for the 3rd day now. On top of that they said 700 dollar deposit to get it back on. My last roommate had the electric in his name and didn’t pay it. They said since I’ve been living here I’m responsible for paying it. Now if that’s the case, why would I have to also pay a deposit? WORST COMPANY EVER.
Absolutely garbage company. I have had problem after problem with this company. Now they can't find my account information anywhere except for when I go to pay my bill so I can't track my usage, but I sure can pay! I haven't met a single neighbor that doesn't absolutely hate Empire/Liberty. It's our only option or we'd be switching. I wish I could give it 0 stars.
It made me put 1 star but I would put 0. They were sending me monthly text messages every month telling me my bill and allowing me to pay it with a simple text back. They randomly stopped sending these messages in October with no warning. Since then they have sent us 2 shut off notices. Getting any information on why they stopped these periodic messages is impossible since their customer service dept. Is essentially non-existant. Now we know our bill is due given the date, but have received no bill and when we called the automated payment line it says we owe nothing. I am certain we will receive another shut off notice before the week is out. They did almost the exact same thing to us last year around this same time of year right in time for christmas and winter. I would suggest you set up your house with a pedal powered generator before you sign up with this company. 0 out of 10 stars.
I recently moved to Ozark from Springfield, and I would say so far they have had Excellent Customer Service.
Worst electric company around. I won't move into their area because I think they are awful. They required a 680.00 deposit because of a final bill that I didn't even know about from one of my rental propertys from 2 years prior. They wouldn't work with me at all about it. THEN, instead of charging my account like a normal auto draft should.. they deduct my bills from the deposit. They say this is normal. Awful company policy and procedures. The people that answer the phone are nice though.
