We had out of state visitors that came to visit a relative in your facility. The one visiter has a disability and a service dog which was properly marked “Service Dog”. The first thing the receptionist said was “No Dogs” We tried to explain to the receptionist that the Service Dog was a “Seizure detection dog” because the lady has seizures! She was denied access to the facility! After traveling for days to visit somebody and then being told you can’t go in is in very poor taste. Even though your homepage says Pet Friendly. I’m very disappointed in the facility and the rudeness of the receptionist!
Denies visitors with service animals seizure alert dog entry. Absolutely illegal but arguing with a receptionist with no knowledge on the situation was embarassing so we left without properly visiting the relative. A very unfortunate and embarrasing situation that was handled poorly. We could have fought and explained the law and they would have been forced to allow entry but it was just too frustrating and embarassing.
I was there two weeks. Broken hip. My experience was awesome. Good food, clean and pleasant . Tyler from P.T. and nurse Connie thank you both for everything.. peg Everhart fisher
My son was brought to Encompass after being in a motorcycle accident. His care there was awesome. Staff...Nurses..Doctors... Therpy.. Were all excellent. They all took wonderful care of him. The only complaint he had was the food. Thank You so much for. the wonderful care of my son
The staff has been fantastic, including housekeeping, techs, nurses, OT, PT, Speech. They are wonderful people and have taken great care of my mom during her stay. Information flowed daily, and the communication was excellent. Thank you for her great care.
In my opinion, after the mistakes the staff made during my father’s stay, extremely poor care, and some questionable dishonesty, I wish with all my heart that he had gone somewhere better. He was over medicated to the point of hallucinations and lost his ability to speak and swallow after 10 days in their care. The doctor had his medication doses wrong and the nurses sheet in the room showed triple doses for one medication and double for another. I had been complaining about him seeming over medicated, but was put off by the joke of a social worker until the following week for a meeting about it with the doctor. My father never made it, he was rushed to hospital because of it and never recovered.
Knowledgeable staff..friendly atmosphere. Helped my son alot!
The lack of continuity of care between nursing staff and therapy is appalling. One would think a rehabilitation hospital would connect the two so a patient can get the most out of each day there. There were no "warm and fuzzy" feelings from most of the nursing staff that I encountered. The social worker who was assigned to us was a joke. He was nothing but a sarcastic prick who shouldn't be allowed to work with the public. Especially those in need of any compassion or help with care. Definitely sorry we picked Healthsouth Altoona for my dads care.
Highly recommend Health South. My dad had a complicated hip revision and was out in 10 days. Staff was friendly, attentive and it was very clean. Physical Therapy was taylored for my dads injury. Definitely would go back.
