Not a place I would recommend for a loved one. Ever since my dad was admitted we had problems. The rehab is amazing! And there was only a couple of nurses and aids that were amazing as well! Other than that, the staff are not on the same page. Doctors don't communicate with nursing staff. Nursing staff didn't communicate with doctors. The management staff and our case manager doesn't communicate with each other as well. They lost my Dad's heart monitor and no one knew where it went. One night a nurse just left him in his wheelchair and clocked out of her shift. It wasn't until 3-4 hours later that my mom finally was able to get someone to help my dad. If my mom didn't call anyone, who knows how long my dad would've been sitting there? They had my dad sitting in his diaper for 3 hours before someone changed him. One day, my dad pressed his call button, and both of us overheard 2 nurses outside my Dad's door. They were arguing with each other trying to figure out who was going to come in and help. I would not recommend Encompass to anyone!
I have had some good experiences more than I might like at University of Utah Medical Center, but I never left an online review. My experience at Encompass was so exceptional that I would not feel good if I didn't take a moment to say, "Thank you," to the Administration, Nurses, PT and OT staff and wonderful Nursing Assistants. What surprised me, in a good way, is that on many days and nights I was not assigned a Nursing Assistant, just an RN who took care of just a few patients. They were incredibly kind and helpful and never even hinted that the patient care tasks they were performing should be left to CNAs. I want to list some names but I won't start because there are too many and I would inevitably leave someone off the list. This one is easy, 10 stars out of 5.
I didn't receive any care here or have any family that did, but I wouldn't hesitate to have them come here. I had the privilege of doing a nursing rotation here and was so extremely impressed with the facility. The staff was amazing and the providers were exceptional. Every patient was a person with individual needs and all of the staff is anxious to help and treat each person with the utmost respect. Sometimes, when we are on the side of providing care, there is apathy and annoyance of responsibilities. Not here. Everyone was anxious to help and provide the best care possible. Again, I would not hesitate to send my family here or receive care myself. It's an excellent facility.
The facility is clean. The medical and rehab doctors are knowledgeable and awesome! The PT and OT staff work as a team and encouraged me to do my best. They came up with creative ways to meet my goals! Every patient mattered to them as if that patient was their only patient. I cannot say enough good things about this facility! If you are debating in choosing between this rehab and another, I encourage you to look no further. I would have stayed longer if I had to. The food is great and was like home cooked meals. Very healthy choices! The nursing staff and CNAs and aides were willing to help, yet allowed me to do what I could. I was never forced to stay in my room. I was truly surrounded by heroes daily.
These people are simply amazing. Truly heroes. The nurses, doctors, administrators, case workers... everyone is just so sweet. They made sure my mother was truly comfortable and happy. They pushed my mother to do well in physical therapy, but in a very kind in gentle way. My mother made more progress with her physical rehabilitation here in just 3 weeks than she did in two months at another rehab and 6 weeks at yet another one. The doctors truly care about their patients and want to support them to do well. Brenda, the discharge manager, was very sweet and made sure everything was perfectly set and ready to go BEFORE my mother discharged, and left no room for questions. I can't tell you how much this experience means to both my mother and I. Thank you so much!
I can never in this lifetime express my gratitude to the Drs., Nurses & CNAs, PT/OT teams, dietary staff and all those associated with Encompass. After having spent 2 1/2 months in ICU and stepdown with Covid-19 and the serious complications that he had; the staff at Encompass worked diligently to help him both physically and psychologically that in one month under their care and guidance; he was able to literally walk out of this facility on his own with the help of hand crutches. The staff was incredible and cheered him on in his recovery with encouragement and love. They treated me each day with concern for my health as I sat with my son and made sure that I was comfortable. God truly blessed us that our son had such incredible care here.
this place is the opposite of other centers. we had my wife in another facility and she’s in encompass. this place is wonderful. great nurses and staff. good food and great care
I recently spent 11 days at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Utah in Sandy. The hospital offers a diversity of Acute Care rehabilitation and recovery services. Acute care means if you are really sick, or in need of truly expert care, this facility could be the place you need to be. It is an in-patient facility. The care I received there was outstanding in every respect. The people were all very well trained. The rehabilitation services were very helpful. The medical oversight by doctors, Physicians Assistants, Registered Nurses and CNAs was truly caring and expert in every way. The facility was clean and orderly. The food was excellent and very healthy. Lots of people who need acute care need it for much longer than I did. Many of the patients there seemed to be needing care much longer than I did. Being cared in an excellent facility such as HealthSouth Rehabilitation when you are in great need for a long time would be a huge benefit, I believe.
I' am a nurse at an assisted living. We have been working with Health South for some time and have had great experiences. Their new MD there is really thorough and has helped my residents maintain their stability and be able to come back to their homes and their SW's are all very friendly and easy to work with. I will continue to recommend this place to my patients and their families.
My sister was put in the care of the skilled nurses and Dr.K at Encompass. She was needing some wound care and some strengthening for her body. They were so wonderful.
