The Englewood Fire District is a fully paid department that covers 83 square miles with 6 Fire stations. We have 54 paid Firefighter/EMTs.
The department was first chartered in 1952 as a volunteer department. In 1983 Englewood Area Fire Control District was established by the Florida Legislature. Its' funding provided by non-ad valorm assessment.
In February 2008 the Englewood Fire Training Center opened. It's location 13400 Haligan Way Englewood, Fl 34223. Part time schooling is offered at the training center to become a certified firefighter. Semesters run from January through May and July through November.
