Equity and Inclusion Office
The Equity and Inclusion Office (formerly the Office of Human Rights & Equity Services) is a service that is available to all McMaster students, staff and faculty members. We are responsible for the University’s Discrimination, Harassment and Sexual Harassment Policy, and Accessibility Policy. Our focus is on human rights-related issues. We provide a listening ear and confidential advice on the options available if, for instance, you have a question or concern that may involve harassment based on race, gender, gender-identity, religion, sexual orientation, disability or other human-rights related concerns. You can approach us in confidence or even anonymously.
Office of Human Rights & Equity Services (HRES) wants to make McMaster a university community where all students, staff and faculty can learn, work and live in equality and respect. To this end, HRES actively promotes an environment free from sexism, racism, heterosexism, discrimination against people with disabilities and all other forms of harassment and discrimination. In addition, our office receives enquires and complaints concerning any form of harassment or discrimination and attempts confidential resolution. Human Rights & Equity Services ensures that the Sexual Harassment Policy, Anti-Discrimination Policy and Accessibility Policy are administered effectively and fairly.
