I brought two bats to them to be tested for rabies. They were extremely kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and gracious. They helped us through an unpleasant process with nothing but professionalism.
The health department must consider our elementary school age children and mask wearing, the health risks involved wearing a mask the entire school day and bus ride home. This carbon dioxide mixes with fresh air and elevates the carbon dioxide content of inhaled air under the mask, and this was more pronounced in this study for younger children."The Journal of the American Medical Association published a research letter suggesting high levels of carbon dioxide detected in children wearing masks. Also people with some types of cognitive, developmental, or behavioral conditions might suffer. Having class rooms aired out would help, handwashing and disinfect, adequate fresh air breaks. Thank you for considering.
Well,we received our 1st Moderna shots this past weekend at the pop up clinic in Eden, NY. Really didn't know what to expect but we knew we needed to vaccinate...This Clinic was done so safely and professionally...Everyone was friendly and smiling...thanking us for coming and getting vaccinated...Thank you to the awesome medical team and volunteers that made this pop up clinic a reality. All were so compassionate and caring...they even gave out thank you gifts...a box of masks and a pack of disinfecting wipes..We were so very impressed with the amazing job done by The Erie County Dept of Health to make everyone they vaccinated feel relaxed and safe. Just a side note ...we are doing fine ..sore arms and fatigue ...so far so good..Thanks Again.AWESOME JOB ERIE COUNTY DEPT OF HEALTH!!!!
I have had to call the ECDOH a couple of times with questions about COVID-19 and recommended procedures. The staff I've spoken with have been unfailingly professional, knowledgeable and polite. I believe their job is very challenging and calls for extreme patience. The staff is superb in my opinion and are to be commended for their hard work. We are fortunate to have them to help us!
- No safe shelter quarantine plan. - No concern for the health crisis of homelessness, even during pandemic. - Phone calls sometimes unanswered. - Phone calls not returned. - Disparate answers from different staff members. - Failed to ensure compliance with pandemic safety guidelines mask-wearing, hand-washing, physical distancing, etc.. ECDOH has had no plan for, and no apparent intention toward, providing safe non-congregate shelter for persons experiencing homelessness -- despite any funding the County might have received from pandemic assistance packages -- even during the Covid-19 pandemic. Before the pandemic, ECDOH refused to recognize that Housing is a Human Right, and that Housing is Healthcare -- those refusals have continued. ECDOH refused to proactively shelter homeless persons, as safety measure for not only those persons themselves, but the community at large -- even during the height of the pandemic. ECDOH refused to safely shelter persons experiencing homelessness during their 10-day quarantine period such as is directed when awaiting Covid-19 test results, and in cases of exposure and/or travel. Phone lines are not always answered. Not only are calls not returned in timely fashion despite that some outgoing messages do guarantee reply within a certain timeframe, calls are also not returned at all. Depending on with whom one has spoken, one might have received completely opposing answers, to the same exact question, from two or more employees. Referred phone numbers for directors of organizations who had no idea why they were receiving such calls, as their organization did not handle such matters as were pursued. Whatever pandemic funding ECDOH may have received, it has not shown. Professionalism, and recognition of *all* persons as worthwhile individuals deserving of dignity, best efforts, and common decency, at least somewhat, to very much, lacking. Recommend: better oversight; far greater transparency; better training -- for serving *all* members of our community; better awareness; improve allocation of resources.
I have written and called regarding NYS guidelines, Erie County Guidelines, etc. and no one answers. I am a Buffalo Teacher with covid related safety issues. One of them being - apparently we don't have to follow "guidelines", then why even use the word. The only thing we have to do is wear a mask and there are no consequences if you don't.
Called three times now to set up a COVID test, followed the instructions on the phone, was told to hold for an available line and all three times the call was immediately ended after that! Once in a century pandemic and this is how you're helping the community? I mean my god Walmart does a better job setting up tests and providing information.
If I could rate it lower than 1star I would. Signed up via telephone. In doing so, there was no indication that shots for COVID were only for age 65 and essential personell! In addition there were NO Fn signs where to park. Finally,, being 63 I thought I would qualify, as the State reduced it to 65. It's aa shame, with all the taxes I pay, I'm forced to deal with such a DISFUNCTIONAL Health department led by our USELESS ERIE COUNTY SUPERVISOR!
Effective and helpful!! An amazing Team supporting Erie Co.
