Located in Española, NM, the Healing Foods Oasis garden is an outdoor classroom that supports native food traditions and languages.
The Healing Foods Oasis project will transform a slope in Valdez Park, Española, NM, into an edible food garden utilizing traditional dry-land farming techniques and permaculture principles. This fruit tree terrace garden will be accessible to the local community to enjoy and interact with. It will provide seasonal food, medicinal herbs, accessible pathways, aesthetic beauty, shade and solve erosion problems on the hillside, while capturing and harvesting precious rainwater.
This project is a partnership between Tewa Women United and the City of Española.
