We are a historical society and museum where vistors can experience local history through both collections of historical artifacts and special exhibits.
Come visit the Harriet Farnsworth Powell Historical Museum in the heart of Essex Town, Vermont, located at the intersection of Route 15 & 128. Inside the little white school house you will find a treasure trove of unique artifacts and exhibits that showcase Essex cultural history including vintage photos, toys and dolls from the Vermont Toy Factory, antique clothing,maple sugaring, Vermonters in the Civil War and much more! We have historical walks and several events each year that allows us to bring history to you!
Our mission is to preserve the history of the Town of Essex and to act as an educational and research source, and to operate the Harriet Farnsworth Powell Memorial Historical Museum.
