It's like a little hidden gem that people have forgotten about. There are some picnic tables located randomly throughout the trails. It has an odd mix of being abandoned but also kind-of being upkept by someone. The trails are a little confusing to navigate but the beauty and overall peacefulness of the place is very nice and relaxing. We spent all day on the trails on accident there are so many trails and so much to explore. There are plaques posted throughout the trails that highlight some of the nature and educate a little.
Fairly primitive hiking facility. The school does not maintain the trails very well, but they are still passable. Be prepared to climb over or duck under downed trees. Not many hikers on the days I have used the preserve so my walks have been uncrowded. If you like solitude and quiet, it's a great choice. Restrooms: There is a porta potty up near the old parking lot but I have never used it. This is more like a wilderness hike. Dog-friendliness: No restrictions as far as I know. Picnic area: There are picnic tables near the original parking lot.
Fun preserve with many short side, out and backs. Yes it's overgrown in some areas as others have mentioned. But it's the closest to being off grid trail hiking in the area. If you want well maintained hikes, fully marked trails and maintained restrooms go to a State Park. Leave your attitudes and egos at the trail head and enjoy nature. If you don't like it not being maintained, volunteer to help. Plus you may see some hidden gems....
Beautiful place to have a lovely walk. The trails are well kept. There are several benches along the way for the tired pedestrian.
This nature walk was perfect. This time of year look out for spider webs! Ahhhhh! Aside from the spiders, it was so cool and peaceful.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Favorite walk in Wilmington. Yes, it's a little overgrown at times and the signage can be misleading, but that's all part of the charm.
This nature park is awesome, such a nice place to go with your family, totally recommend
Super lovely trails just very poorly marked. They need trail markers/colored signs- something. There are some signs at trail entrances but not much beyond that and we could only locate one map station near the bus parking/picnic area. But the space and the trails as a whole are a wonderful little adventure.
Great place to connect and relax. Moderate walking, some trails have trees down. Scenic and lovely.
It was definitely a nature preserve. Some trails were over grown, but most of them were normal. Lots of fallen trees, there is a picnic type place, with a portapotty, some picnic tables, and a map. I am not positive that the map is correct but there is a site with a map, also a little tiny map you can find. There is a specific trail that was personally terrifying to me, there was a swamp on one side and a creek on the other so that freaked me out. There are some abandoned houses, but they don't get in the way, all though I thought they were very cool. After all a great place to go just be careful of maybe snakes. I haven't seen any snakes but you never know with swamps and tall grass. BRING BUG SPRAY.
