My name is Andrew G. Vaughn. I am a partner at the law firm of Katz & Stefani where my practice focuses on divorce for high net worth individuals such as celebrities, professional athletes, high level executives, and business owners.
Regardless of the issues in your case, Andrew G. Vaughn will develop a case strategy that uses a combination of his litigation and negotiation skills to ensure that you receive the best possible result. The most successful strategy for your case may require the use of aggressive litigation (i.e. courtroom advocacy) techniques. In that event, Mr. Vaughn will employ his extensive litigation background related to complex financial and contested custody issues to your benefit. Mr. Vaughn has successfully litigated multiple issues such as: valuation of closely held businesses, validity of pre-marital agreements, custody of and visitation with minor children, analysis of maintenance/alimony claims, complex tracing of assets and streams of income, injunctive relief, orders of protection, international jurisdiction, and disproportionate division of marital estates. In the alternative, when the most effective strategy for your case calls for reaching a negotiated settlement, Mr. Vaughn can utilize his skills as a negotiator to your benefit. Mr. Vaughn was a member of the Negotiation Team while attending Loyola University Chicago School of Law and has added practical experience to his academic background by participating in many negotiations of multi-million dollar cases as well as contested custody cases.
Mr. Vaughn is a graduate of Augustana College (Class of 2003) where he received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Scandinavian Studies, English, and Political Science with an International Focus. While at Augustana College, Mr. Vaughn was nominated to the Dean's List, received the Simpson Scholarship for excellence in the Swedish language, was selected to have his senior thesis published, and received the Award of Excellence from the National Consortium of Academics and Sport for his stellar performance as both a student and a member of the track and field/cross country teams. After graduating from Augustana, Mr. Vaughn accepted an academic scholarship to Loyola University Chicago School of Law (Class of 2006). While a law student, Mr. Vaughn sharpened his practice skills as a member of both the Negotiation Team and the Client Counseling Team. In addition, Mr. Vaughn was an active member of the Business Law Society and the International Law Society.
Throughout law school, Mr. Vaughn also demonstrated his dedication to serving those most in need by volunteering with Cabrini Green Legal Aid and interning with the Center for Disability and Elder Law. Mr. Vaughn later accepted a position with the Center for Disability and Elder Law as the Pro Bono Family Law Coordinator. As a result of his dedication to public interest work, Mr. Vaughn has received the Public Service Award from the Illinois State Bar Association, the Law Student Volunteer of the Year Award from Cabrini Green Legal Aid, and the Pro Bono Recognition Award from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
Mr. Vaughn left the Center for Disability and Elder Law to accept a position as a Law Clerk (2005-2006), and later an Associate (2006-2010) with Schiller, DuCanto and Fleck where his practice focused on family law for multi-millionaires and celebrities. While at Schiller, DuCanto and Fleck, Mr. Vaughn excelled as a litigator and a negotiator and in recognition of his successes Mr. Vaughn was made a Professor of Advanced Issues in Domestic Relations Law at Loyola University Chicago School of Law (2008-present). In 2010, Mr. Vaughn joined Katz & Stefani where he continues to excel as a family law attorney.
In addition to his active law practice and professorial activities, Mr. Vaughn is a frequent lecturer on a wide range of topics including: injunctive relief, strategies for deposing expert witnesses, and the rights and remedies of same sex couples in Illinois. In addition, Mr. Vaughn is active in the community via his role on the Development Committee of Epic Academy (a Chicago charter school), volunteering with Cabrini Green Legal Aid, raising funds for MS research, via his role as a member of the Business Advice & Financial Planning Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association, and via his role as a member of the Standing Committee on Law Office Management & Economics of the Illinois State Bar Association.
