One of the coolest visitor’s centers I’ve ever been to! They had SO many maps for you to take with you, and they had free orange juice and grapefruit juice! The staff were friendly and the bathrooms were clean. This place is definitely worth stopping for.
The town looks pretty deserted. But then you arrive at the visitor center and start the boat tour and it is simply amazing. The skipper and the spotter help you to locate all kind of animals and actively try to find them. The guys are so much fun and know a lot about the animals The views are stunning too! But remember it is wildlife. So the animals could decide not to show up. But nevertheless it is worth every penny!
One of the coolest visitors center I've ever been to! We were absolutely thrilled with our visit in Gulf Coast Visitor Center. We took the narrated 90 minutes boat tour out to Chokoloskee Bay and we saw a bunch of widelife: many dolphins, manatees, stingrays, pelicans, osprey, an eagle nest. The boat captains were so knowledgeable and humorous as well. So epic trip, highly recommend!
Took the narrated 1.5 hr boat tour out to Indian Key and got to see sooooo many dolphins, osprey, an eagle nest. The boat captains were so knowledgeable and humorous as well. highly recommend!
You can reserve a boat ride to see the wildlife in the Ten thousand islands. The boat was not too busy in July but it is recommended to purchase the tickets online before arriving.
The boat tour is amazing. The tour guide was great. Not much other than the boat, but worth the stop.
Building is gone, but they still have a ranger out in a pop up tent to answer all your questions. We still had a great time.
We ended up arriving at the Visitor Center right around 5pm and the park ranger was nice enough to stay a little bit late to answer a few of our questions and give up a map to show us the best places to go to view wildlife. She was so kind and personable and we were very impressed with her customer service! I wouldn’t go to this area expecting a lot of attractions or entertainment, but if you enjoy wildlife and nature it is a really wonderful experience!
This place is worth stopping by if you are taking a tour that launches from the area. A hurricane damaged the visitor center. Covered picnic tables are nice. There is a trail leading around the lake. The trees are identified by tags and there are a few signs teaching about the history of the area. Toilet on site is a portable.
We took the boat to see Dolphins, manatees and birds really loved it. At the site we found out need to buy boat tickets online. Can't pay on site!
