WHAT IS HOSPICE CARE?
Hospice is a program of health care and services designed to meet the special needs of people and their families in times of crises and terminal illness.
HOSPICE CRITERIA
Eligibility requirements for Medicare and Medi-Cal benefits will be determined when the following requirements are met.
1.The patient has limited life expectancy
2.Curative measures have ended and the focus is now on physical, spiritual and emotional comfort.
3.the patients physician authorizes Hospice Care
WHO PAYS FOR HOSPICE CARE?
Hospice Care is a covered benefit under most private insurance plans. HMO's and Managed Care organizations. In addition it is a covered Medicare benefit and in California a covered Medicaid benefit. Private pay arrangements can also be made.

Hospice care can dramatically impact the amount of pain and suffering experienced, providing quality time to life comfortably and fully, with privacy and dignity, in your own home or care facility. The expectation is that the dying individual will have the opportunity to prepare for a death with dignity.
