Excel Fitness

Exzel Fitness is an awesome gym: they have a large variety of equipment that is well-maintained, and I love that it's spacious and not so close together that I would feel like I'd be in someone's way while doing my workout. They also offer a nice variety of classes. The staff has always been friendly, helpful and sincere; never overbearing or pushy. It's in a great location for me, and there's childcare if I need it. I really enjoy working out here.

I love this gym! Lots of cardio & weightlifting equipment, the facility is clean, staff is unbelievably helpful and friendly and the classes offered are awesome. It's a real gym for people who are serious about getting fit, no donut days or Lunk Alarms here! It's also helpful that childcare is available if it is needed. Now that it's a 24 hour gym there's absolutely NO reason not to join TODAY!!!

I've been going for a little over 2 weeks and I love it! Clean bathrooms and equipment. When enrolling Jack and Brenda the owners take the time to get to know you and make it a personal point to say hey every time I come in. Everyone is friendly and there are people of all shapes and sizes that come here. Also they have a great variety of classes and tanning!

This is a great gym, lots of available classes, new equipment that is well taken care of, and great customer service. You'll always see a smiling face when you walk in, and employees always take the time to say hi. The staff is very eager to help you meet your personal goals, without being pushy or overbearing. This place has something for everyone, and you never have to worry about crowding because it is huge.

The gym has a wonderful feel about the place most of the time.. lots of positive energy flowing. It would be nice if all of the flat weights would return to one home.. spend lotta time searching for flats.. dumbbells are most of the time where they should be and the rack is nice. Sometimes wish there was more floor space so there could be a couple more benches for press but very rare do I feel this way..18:00-20:00 is a busy time frame..

I've been going to Exzel since late February to early March. I can honestly say that I have never had a problem in this facility. My only gripe is my own laziness that restricts me from visiting more often. Throughout the last fifteen years, I've been in and out of multiple gyms in Union and Spartanburg and can comfortably say this, by far is the best to facilitate my needs in regards to exorcise. From pin type machines, plate machines, free weights and cardio machines. I've never had a bad encounter with any staff members or patrons that just seem to hang out and get in the way. Exzel will continue to have my business for, hopefully, many years to come.

This is an edit....just read where one of the owners called my review flat out false! .....Golds did get purchased by Planet Fitness - before you join any place do yourself a favor and give Planet Fitness at look - at 10 dollars a month it just cannot be beat....it is clean with outstanding equipment and in excellent shape. There is no waiting for equipment. Not the case at Exzel....I was talking with a Exzel member yesterday and he said Exzel had fired their support folks and that some equipment is not working and they are apparently too broke to fix....that's his guess. I told him to check out Planet Fitness. Another good place to workout is Anytime Fitness in Duncan. Not as big and not as much to offer but super people and clean place. Also, the bathrooms at Planet Fitness are CLEAN - not the case at Exzel. For the record, I am a photographer, I have NO dog in the hunt. Just telling the bloody truth....but don't take my word for it. Just do your homework...visit Planet Fitness after going to Exzel or Anytime Fitness. You will not need much time to make your choice! BTW, I happen to know one of the Aerobic instructors referred to in one of these post.....it would help if Exzel would pay their aerobic instructors. They did let Chris go - but the damage he did was beyond repair in my book! This was my favorite place to work out. Not anymore.... The ownership hired Chris it is my understanding that he had to increase membership or the club was going to fail ...he is an idiot. Just not qualified to work with people....zero social skills. He smarted off to me.....I left that day and joined Golds Gym BTW, they have more equipment - great staff - I pay 119 annual membership no contract. Love it there. Back to Exzel - I understand they fired Jack and Brenda - they were awesome..... in fact, I was considering returning and going to both clubs but I have ZERO interest in returning to the club with them gone. Tis a shame. Feel free to contact me....I will be happy to elaborate! The folks owners at Exzel know how to reach me! BYW, you notice the great reviews were written before they hired Chris! I doubt you will see many good reviews until Chris is gone and they hire folks like Brenda. If you go to their facebook page - you will notice that Chris has taken down the ability to add comments - Plus he had to remove the REVIEWS...and ability to add a review, before the owners saw them.....I wonder what he is afraid of ??????

Great open floor with tons of machines and free weights. Always clean and courteous staff. Love the 24 hour access, allows you to fit you workout into your daily schedule, whenever you need too.

I registered in January 2016. It was GREAT. I really enjoyed Donna from cardio/kickboxing and Eva from Pilates. This only lasted for about two weeks because afterward, instructors started coming about 30 min late which I didn't really mind as long as the workout was efficient and exciting, and then the instructors simply decided to miss the class, without even letting the front desk know; we would be waiting there for an hour, no call no show, and the most frustrating was asking the front desk about the issue, and being told that they have no clue as to where the instructor is, or what is going on, or if there was even going to be a class at all. Now I am very patient; everybody who knows me can confirm it, so I kept on going, and kept on experiencing the same problem about six times. The last straw for me was when we couldn't have cardio class because somebody simply took the stereo away; classes were cancelled for about a month this was in early May, and they promised that classes would resume and function properly as of June 1st. Sadly, this has never been the case, and I stopped going, no matter how "well" they fixed it, which I doubt that they did. I should never have spent $250 dollars on this place. Also, I am not a type to leave negative reviews, but I had to because it seems as if the owner keeps on calling every negative review here as a "FLAT OUT LIE". Such a lack of class and professionalism explains why everything went wrong. SMH!!!

This place is a joke they have charged my bank account 3 times in the month of June.. And when I called to tell them they denied it and said it wasn't them when my bank statement clearly states it was. Taylor the incompetent girl who answered the phone did absolutely nothing to help and wouldn't say anything when I said I wanted to cancel my membership. She just kept insisting I call back later! Definitely not going here anymore
