Preventive dental care includes regular exams (every 6 months) and cleanings to remove plaque and tartar. During these routine visits we also do periodontal charting to ensure the health of your whole mouth area.
Preventive care can also include dental sealants and fluoride treatments which the American Dental Association says is for kids as well as adolescents. The combination of these simple and inexpensive procedures has an amazing ability to prevent most cavities from ever happening. When you consider the costs and inconvenience of root canals, extractions and replacement options, preventing cavities is a sound investment in oral health and peace of mind.
Metal-free resin fillings are much better looking than the old mercury fillings and also bond better with your remaining tooth making it stronger and less likely to develop fissures where cavities can begin. Natural colored resin fillings also are less sensitive to heat and cold.
