The Eye Bank of British Columbia's mission is to decrease the waiting list for corneal transplant and provide families with the opportunity to donate their loved one's eyes, thereby giving the gift of sight through transplant, education and research.
The Eye Bank of B.C. is a not-for-profit organization within Vancouver Coastal Health. In 1983 the EBBC was established as the provincial referral centre to deal with British Columbia's needs for ocular tissue for transplant, research and education. Through the eye bank families are offered the opportunity to donate their loved one's eyes. This immeasurable gift from a single donor can restore sight to up to two people who are currently blind.
