Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home

About

Family Owned and Operated

Description

Welcome to the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home website. As a new funeral home, we are honored to serve you under the same philosophy and management style that has separated Fairfax Memorial Park from other area cemeteries: service and commitment. Special care is given to accommodate the customs and traditions of the families we serve.

In these times where there are fewer and fewer individuals and corporations willing to follow a commitment to accept their obligations and responsibilities, the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home will continue to take pride in our communities, and strive to carry through our obligation and dedication to our families as we have maintained through Fairfax Memorial Park Cemetery since 1957. Our commitment now extends to our funeral home, our community, staff, colleagues and associates to continue the true tradition of personal service.

We have had a wonderful experience with Fairfax Memorial. They have always been sympathetic and very helpful. We have worked now with Rachel Harris twice. Once for our stepfather in 2019 and just recently in August 2023 for our mother. She is absolutely wonderful. She treats you with respect and is truly supportive. She also is compassionate which is key during difficult times. It is comforting to know everything is taken care of and with dignity. We had some issues with my mothers videos and pictures and Rachel went beyond to ensure we got an excellent video for my mothers celebration of life. Thank you Rachel!!
All they want is money! As a receiving facility, they charged $1000, to place my mother’s ashes in an already paid for marked grave between my father and my grandmother. This includes the cost for graveside services- which you pay for regardless of if you use it or not I didn't. The price should be more like $500-750. You can argue, but inevitably they take advantage over your grieving state, and hold all the cards, forcing you to pay whatever they ask for. Mom passed in May 2023, and the grave sites were paid for since 2000, when grandma was laid to rest.
FMP took excellent care of our family during a very difficult time after the loss of our loved one. They made the process of planning the ceremony very streamlined and efficient. They were very accommodating and the ceremony was lovely. Thank you to Brittany and her team for everything!
Excellent Customer Service, easy to approach, very professional, sympathetic and always ready to solve each and every problem raised. I will recommend Fairfax Memorial Park to anyone. From the front desk to the back are very respectful and helpful. Once again Thank you Cathy, she is the best.
Carmelita Walker-Chaplin is excellent to work with. My mom, my three brothers, and I were all present and involved for every part of arranging his funeral and burial. Facing a family of five adults even one like ours that gets along well! might intimidate the best. Carmelita was kind and patient with all of us as we aired our concerns and opinions and took our time coming to agreement on things. Carmelita picked out the perfect site for my parents in a quiet part of the cemetery in line with a statue of the Blessed Mother - perfect for a Catholic family! She was also a huge help with the marker. We were having trouble settling on a design; nothing looked right and my mom was tired and discouraged. Carmelita took us on a ride around the cemetery and showed us designs on all different sorts of markers. Afterwards, she designed the perfect marker for my parents' grave on her computer as we watched over her shoulder. We hope not to be back at Fairfax Memorial Park anytime soon. If we are, however, we will ask for Carmelita. She is wonderful.
Caitlin Johns Funeral Director helped me with all the paperwork and arrangements for my mother’s cremation. She was professional, compassionate and really supportive. Working with her was like having a trusted friend walk me through the process. I very highly recommend both Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home and Caitlin.
The most trying times can be the best of times if you have the right people in your corner. Cathy Younkin and Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home were those people for our family after the passing of my dad. A great man met with great care, respect and attention by Cathy and team. No request was too big or too small or flag stand too heavy…. Cathy sweat the details so we could focus on taking care of each other and telling my dad’s story. Thank you, Cathy and FMFH for being a bright spot to guide us through this chapter today and beyond. ~ The Prociv Family
I have experienced a lot of death in your life and have attended many funerals. By far, I have never attended a service that was so well orchestrated, every small detail was attended to, everyone felt secure and comforted and the service the family received was exceptional. If you are looking for someone to help you through the worst time of your life in the very best way, ask for Cathy Younkin. There are no words to describe her.
Under such sad and difficult conditions, planning our father’s funeral, Cathy at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home was wonderful. She was kind, caring and really walked us through everything. My sisters and I had no experience with funeral planning and we felt so comfortable with Cathy as she helped us through it. We would highly recommend working with her.
Our funeral director was Cathy Younkin. She was very professional, thorough, and kind. We'd appreciate greatly for her professional service, genuine care for our family, and guidance that make a difficult process much easier for us to follow.
