Wife and I stayed at the Empress for a 5 night vacation to Victoria and could not have been happier with our stay and the excellent and friendly service we received. We booked our stay with American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts which included several extra benefits, but I would gladly stay at this hotel again without those benefits. Although the reservation was eligible for upgrade, they were fully booked so there weren’t any upgrades available. Nonetheless, we were still very happy with our standard room. We had breakfast in the Q restaurant multiple times and the quality was excellent and consistent every day. Additionally, we had afternoon tea which was also great. While the food and accommodations were great, the excellent and friendly service made it a great experience overall. This is truly a “grand” hotel with 5 star service. We greatly look forward to our next visit!
We had an unbelievably good experience at the Empress. The atmosphere is wonderful, the staff members are professional and welcoming at every level, and it's just such a treat for the senses. Everyone there went above and beyond for us. I especially loved cocktails in the lounge. The Key Lime cocktail was amazing! It was just such a pleasure to roam the beautiful hallways, soaking in the history. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.
This is a beautiful hotel in the best location in Victoria. Our room was very comfortable and had a view of the bay, however the bathroom was quite small to make room for a walk in wardrobe. The swimming pool was a nice touch, but lacks a dryer for costumes that you may find elsewhere. Loved the food and the staff were top notch. Best location, fantastic amenities excellent customer service. Recommended. Rooms: We'll appointed, lovely views of the harbour. Small bathroom.
We didn't stay here but just stopped for cocktails and food at the bar. They seemed to have a spot in the hotel specifically for cruise ship tourists and it appeared there were nicer bars and restaurants in other areas of the hotels. I didn't that we were placed in the lesser of the locations as we were dressed casually and to be truthful, I was just grateful they even sat us given how casually we were dressed this was a spontaneous stop for us. We ordered cocktails that were served in glass tea kettles and then poured into tea cups and also got a tiered tray of appetizers. They do not serve high tea at night so this was a close to tea at the Empress that we could get.
Right downtown! Beautiful old building, with its own history! Never stay at the hotel but had our Christmas dinner there for our ships company. It was amazing. One day I hope to get a room there because I hear it's haunted lol at least that's what those walking tours have said?!?
We had an absolutely lovely and unforgettable stay at the Empress Hotel in Victoria. We stayed in one of the Gold level rooms, which is on the first floor, and features it’s own check-in desk. His was an incredible value for the price since we had access to the Gold Lounge which offered picturesque views of the bay, and the staff were amazing and helpful at every step. We also enjoyed high tea as well, which was an experience that my wife and I both wanted to check off on our bucket list. Overall, we had an amazing experience and we are both excited to come back again in the future.
This was a bucket list trip. I can't say enough about how amazing the food was. They take gluten free very serious. I honestly didn't want to go back to America because they haven't figured it out like the Empress has. I'm so impressed. Can't wait to go back. Best tea service! What a beautiful experience. We really just stayed at the hotel for all of our meals. I love it there.
We loved our stay here at the Fairmont Empress. We were upgraded to a small suite with a beautiful view over Victoria Harbor. The bathroom had both a shower and tub, plus 2 sinks. The beds were comfortable and the room was very spacious. Service was wonderful as well and we enjoyed using their pool and sauna facilities. The Q at the Empress is beautiful with delicious drinks and we had an amazing afternoon high tea in their tea room. The location can't be beat, either.
Went inside the building just to stroll around, beautiful building inside, a nice garden, apparently tea time is very popular and good at this place, went through the dining where it is served and it was packed, I will say its is really posh but nice ambiance, they have an amazing piano player, beautiful music coming out of his hands. Really nice spots inside for cool pics. Found a nice window by the library and took great pics!
Hotel location and hotel itself was amazing. Rooms, less so, unless you want to pay outrageous amounts. Bar was fabulous, loved the Empress 1809 themed cocktails. Enjoyed more than one. Overall, an experience for sure, just not wowed by the “deluxe” upgraded room.Rooms: 3/5
