DO NOT USE THIS CLINIC IF YOU ARE "FAT" Worst experience. Was in for an open wound from my 3rd surgery not closing up on my ankle after breaking it on the job. Was given cream for my infection, but was told that if I did not go to get weight loss surgery in the next six months I would loose my leg completely. That was 2 years ago. Guess what? Still have my leg. But also work comp refused to cover this initial meeting because apparently it wasn't required. So, if you’re thin you're probably fine, but Do Not use this clinic as a fat person. It is fat phobic and preys on the fear of patients.
Before being seen in the M Health Would Healing Clinic, my post-surgical wound had slowly worsened over a period of 3 months. For my initial visit I saw Dr. Omlie, and for my first follow up visit I saw Dr. Melin. I scheduled with whoever was available. I followed all instructions and, between appointments, in a period of <2 weeks, my wound is 81% healed. I'm so happy! I had thought that it would never close. I have another follow up scheduled. I love how knowledgable they are as a team. The nurses are terrific. Scheduling has been pleasant and easy. Zero complaints. Highest recommendation. Thank you for your care!
My initial appointment was with Dr. Omlie, then he went on vacation and I was treated by Dr. Melin. Over a 3 month period my leg became infected twice.with bacteria including Mirsa and Psudamungas. Both times the Fairview Wound clinic did not swab my leg for bacteria. The first time it was swabbed by my dermatologist Dr. Pappas and the second time it was swabbed by an Urgent care doctor. I had tried to get an earlier appointment at Fairview Wound Healing at 6545 France Ave So but they were short staffed and they sent me to Urgent care. I was doing everything they told me to do, but my leg wound was not responding. I spent alot of money out of pocket for vitamins, drinks, bandages in spite of the fact that I have very good United Healthcare supplement plus Medicare. I do not need a referral and can go to any doctor I like. I had 3 vein studies this summer. The first one was in April in Phoenix, the last one was at 6525 France Ave S. After the study I met with Dr. Karimi who suggested that he could close a vein that was malfunctioning, however no guarantees. He said 50/50 chance that it would help heal my wound. Still, I said OK let's go, but weeks passed and they could not get it scheduled. They had to get insurance approval and blamed it on United Healthcare. This afternoon I received a call saying that the paperwork had been misplaced and now it was approved. Meanwhile, I had an appointment at 7:15 Am with Dr Melin. I had mohs surgery yesterday on my "good leg" to remove 2 squamous cell carcinomas from my shin. It was bandaged, but stained with blood. I was sitting in the big chair with my pants legs up. I was explaining to Dr Melin that I was going to be leaving for Phoenix on Friday and that his time was up. They had not been able to schedule me for the vein closure in a timely matter and I was planning to continue my wound healing efforts in Phoenix. Dr Melin asked me if they, he and his nurse were wearing "yellow" the last time I saw them. Then he asked me if I had Mirsa. I reminded him that my leg had been infected twice during our relationship and one of the bacteria was Mirsa. He and his nurse went into the cupboard and donned yellow paper gowns. He didn't like the way my dermatology nurse had bandaged my mohs surgery. He aggressively cut the bandage off with a scissors right up the front of my shin where I have 2 fresh 3 inch wounds stitched shut. He split the bandage open yelling "Look at that! It's beautifull!" Then he ordered his nurse to bandage it properly which she did very rapidly. He told me that he wasn't going to touch my non healing wound on the other leg because I had already suffered lots of pain. He was very agitated and scarey. He yelled at me to get some Epsom salts and soak the wound for 15 minutes each day. He stormed out of the room. I was in shock. Another nurse came in to bandage my non healing wound. I wish I knew her name, because she was gentle and showed compassion during my visits there. I would not recommend this Wound center. Apparently I ruffled someone's feathers. He did emphasize to me that he and his colleagues are part of a world renowned organization. I did not have a good experience. Nancy James-Auka
Stopped in to set appt; got in same day with Katy Cecconi, PA. Had some bandages and gauze pads ordered. Have not been able to get refill so alot of out of pocket expense. I stopped in, nurse Mary said i dont have to stop in any more. I explained i lost cell phone. I had 2 virtual appts set after i got new phone plus number. They never called. I left 2 messages yesterday stating i believe i have infection again along with my new phone number yet again. No phone call since. Rude and inept. stop in any more
Dr. Melin is a very knowledgeable, caring man who keeps up with the newest medications for healing wounds. His nurses are very pleasant and efficient, as they go about their work. I would recommend Fairview Wound Clinic.
Fairview Wound Healing Institute has been the best results for the care I have needed. As someone who has been coming here for years it's the best care out there. The staff is very knowledgeable and will get results and healed as quickly as possible.
